Before reading this article, you know nothing about Money Plant. This article will take you into the core of Money Plant. This article collects various information about Money Plant. All the information you want to know will be revealed here. Let us take a look.

The efficacy and function of money grass

Centella asiatica, a traditional Chinese medicine. It is a plant of Primulaceae, Lysimachia christinae

Hance) dried whole herb. It is distributed in all provinces of Jiangnan. Harvested in summer and autumn. Remove impurities, dry in the sun, cut into sections and use raw. It has the effects of clearing away heat and detoxifying, dispersing blood stasis and relieving swelling, promoting dampness and relieving jaundice. It can be used for hot stranguria, sand stranguria, painful and difficult urination, jaundice and red urine, carbuncles, furuncles, snake bites, liver and gallstones, urinary tract stones, etc.

Modern research shows that this product mainly contains phenolic components and sterols, flavonoids, amino acids, tannins, volatile oils, choline, potassium salts, etc. It also has the effects of stone removal, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, and has an inhibitory effect on both humoral immunity and cellular immunity. In addition, one of the aliases of the Urticaceae plant, mirror grass, is also called money grass.

The efficacy of money grass

Clears away dampness and heat, relieves stranguria and reduces swelling. It is used for hot stranguria, sandy stranguria, painful and difficult urination, jaundice and red urine, carbuncles, furuncles, snake bites, hepatobiliary stones, and urinary tract stones.

It is used for hot stranguria, especially for treating stranguria with stones. It can be boiled alone and taken as tea, or used together with sea sand, chicken gizzard lining, etc. It is used for damp-heat jaundice and can be used together with Artemisia capillaris and Gardenia jasminoides. Modern treatment of cholelithiasis uses a combination of Artemisia capillaris, Scutellaria baicalensis, and Costusroot. For carbuncle, swelling, snake and insect bites, burns, etc., you can mash fresh Centella asiatica into juice and drink it, and apply the residue to the local area.

The role of money grass

1. Used for hepatobiliary stones, urinary tract stones, stranguria and jaundice. Centella asiatica has good effects in clearing dampness, relieving jaundice, removing stones and relieving stranguria. It can treat liver and gallstones and jaundice. It can be used alone as a decoction instead of tea, or combined with Artemisia capillaris, Curcuma aromatica, rhubarb, etc. to enhance the effects of clearing the liver and gallbladder and removing stones.

2. It can be used alone to treat stranguria with stones and hot stranguria, or used together with Lycopodiella cava, Chicken Gizzard Stone, Pyrola, etc., to enhance the effect of clearing damp heat from the lower abdomen, relieving stranguria and expelling stones. For stranguria with stones and symptoms of kidney deficiency, it can be used in combination with kidney-tonifying mistletoe and walnut kernels.

3. Used for sores, carbuncles, breast abscesses, ulcers, snake bites and bruises. Centella asiatica has the functions of detoxifying, relieving blood stasis, reducing swelling and relieving pain. It is often used freshly for oral or external application. The fresh grass can be used alone to make juice to drink, or it can be mashed and applied to the affected area. It can also be used together with wild chrysanthemum, dandelion, and evergreen to enhance the heat-clearing and detoxifying effects.

4. Centella asiatica is used for edema and ascites. It has diuretic and swelling-reducing effects both when taken internally and applied externally. It is used for lung heat cough and high fever in children for its heat-clearing and detoxifying effects.

Pharmacological effects of Centella asiatica

1. Stone removal effect:

Centella asiatica has the effects of promoting bile and diuresis in removing stones. Experiments using a tadpole experimental calcium oxalate kidney stone model showed that decoction of Centella asiatica is effective in preventing and treating tadpole experimental kidney stones. The results of the semi-open recording system experiment on anesthetized dogs showed that Lysimachia sibiricum can cause increased intracavitary pressure in the upper ureter, enhanced ureteral peristalsis, and increased urine volume, which has a squeezing and impact effect on ureteral stones and promotes the excretion of ureteral stones. Calcium oxalate monohydrate is the main component of urinary stones. The polysaccharide components in the alcohol-insoluble matter of Centella asiatica have an inhibitory effect on the crystal growth of calcium oxalate monohydrate, and the inhibitory effect increases with the increase of concentration. The inhibitory effect of normal human urine on the crystal growth of calcium oxalate monohydrate is equivalent to that of the polysaccharide extracted at 1.94×10(-5)g (crude drug)/ml. Using the conductive method, it was found that the percentage of refined polysaccharide in inhibiting the growth of calcium oxalate monohydrate crystals was higher than that of the alcohol precipitation part of the water decoction.

2. Anti-inflammatory effect:

Intraperitoneal injection of 50g/kg of Centella asiatica and 3.75g/kg of its total flavonoids and phenolic acids has a significant inhibitory effect on the increase in vascular permeability in mice caused by histamine, and has a very significant inhibitory effect on ear inflammation in mice caused by croton oil. It also has a significant inhibitory effect on ankle joint swelling in rats caused by injection of egg white and cotton ball granuloma in rats.

3. Effect on the immune system:

Houttuynia cordata has an inhibitory effect on cellular immunity. Rosette test: The percentage of rosettes formed between spleen cells and sheep erythrocytes in the Desmodium spp. mice was significantly lower than that in the control group, and was still suppressed even 10 days after drug withdrawal, to a similar extent as that in cyclophosphamide. The inhibition is more obvious when Desmodium sibiricum is used together with cyclophosphamide. Skin transplant rejection reaction: The time of skin transplant rejection reaction in mice in the Lysimachia and cyclophosphamide groups was later than that in the control group, especially in the group using both drugs.

Moneywort also has an inhibitory effect on humoral rabbit epidemics. In the immunized mice, the production of hemolysin was inhibited in the group taking the Herba Lysimachiae, and the content in the serum was about 1/2 of that in the control group; the production of leptospira agglutinating antibodies was inhibited in the mice in the Herba Lysimachiae group, and the titer in the serum was generally lower than that in the control group; the combined use of Herba Lysimachiae and cyclophosphamide had a particularly significant effect.

Desmodium pennisetum can enhance the phagocytic function of mouse macrophages, and its phagocytic function percentage is twice that of the control group; the phagocytic function of neutrophils was examined at different times after the mice were injected with staphylococci, and it was found that the number of cells with phagocytic function in the Desmodium pennisetum group was higher than that in the control group, and it was most obvious 4, 6, and 8 hours after injection.

4. Effects on vascular smooth muscle and human platelets:

Houttuynia cordata has a relaxant effect on vascular smooth muscle, and also has a certain inhibitory effect on human platelet aggregation induced by ADP and arachidonic acid in vitro.

The tiny money grass actually has such effects. As the saying goes, you can't judge a book by its cover, let alone small grasses and flowers. In the future, when you see money grass, don't think it is just an ordinary grass. Money grass has great effects on the human body. I hope that after reading this article, it will help you understand money grass.
