What causes fluid odor?

Underarm odor, which we also call body odor, refers to a special pungent smell emitted from the armpits. This smell will be more obvious especially in summer. As a very common disease, although axillary odor is not contagious and does not cause any harm to health, it still causes great psychological harm to people. Most people are not very clear about how body odor is caused. Body odor can be divided into congenital and acquired types, which are caused by genetic and adolescent factors.

1. What causes underarm odor?

1. Puberty factors

Because the secretions of body glands of young men and women are higher than those of other groups, especially those with oily skin, their body odor is stronger than that of ordinary people. In addition, women have more than half more body secretory glands than men. These glands are mainly concentrated in the breasts, armpits, anus and other parts, and they develop more vigorously during puberty. Under the influence of mental factors, hormone levels, and environmental climate, the secretion of these glands often causes certain parts of women's bodies to form a humid and warm environment, leading to the reproduction of a large number of bacteria, which promotes the growth and decomposition of bacteria and produces body odor.

2. Genetic factors

Body odor is a dominant trait in autosomes. If one of the spouses suffers from body odor, the probability of their next generation inheriting body odor is more than 50%. But if both husband and wife suffer from body odor, the inheritance rate of body odor can be as high as 80%. If the mother suffers from body odor, there is a chance that the odor will be passed on to both sons and daughters. But if the father suffers from body odor, it will generally be passed on to his daughter.

2. The impact of underarm odor on life

  1. Harm to the skin

Armpit odor often occurs in areas that are prone to sweating and difficult to evaporate, such as the armpits and groin. Some patients also develop mold and adhesion in the armpits after becoming ill, and even develop skin diseases such as tinea versicolor. This not only increases the patient's distress, but also increases the difficulty of treatment.

    2. Harm to the next generation

Armpit odor is not contagious, but it is somewhat hereditary. Even if the patient has eliminated the disease through treatment, the pathogenic factors still exist and can still be passed on to the next generation, causing trouble to the child's life and communication, and even affecting the child's physical and mental health.

    3. Harm to daily communication

The harm of axillary odor will also affect the patient's appearance. Because of its unpleasant smell, friends, colleagues, and classmates will discriminate against and stay away from them. At work, unpleasant body odor will cause colleagues to look at you strangely, which will not only greatly reduce your image, but may also cause you to lose your favorite job.

    4. Psychological harm

The gazes of people around them and unintentional small movements often make patients extremely nervous. The pungent smell affects the patient's mood. Long-term development will change the patient's temperament, cause serious mental illness, and make the patient become autistic and inferior.
