How to Treat Migraines

Migraine is a very stubborn disease. It usually does not have obvious symptoms, but when it occurs, the patient will feel very uncomfortable. There will be intermittent pain in either the left or right side of the head, and it is more common on the right side. When it occurs, the patient will break out in a cold sweat. Some are very serious and require an IV drip to relieve the pain. Generally speaking, the chance of occurrence on the right side is greater than the left.

So what exactly is a migraine? What are the likely causes of a migraine? What are the symptoms when a migraine occurs? How can we avoid migraines in real life? Let's first understand how to treat a migraine.

Take vitamin B2 to prevent migraines

Researchers in Belgium and Luxembourg have found that high-dose supplementation with vitamin B2 (riboflavin) can reduce the frequency and duration of migraine headaches. The research team studied 98 patients with mild to severe migraines, aged 18 to 65, who suffered 2 to 8 migraine attacks per month. The researchers randomly assigned the patients to a placebo or a treatment group that received 400 mg of riboflavin per day. After three months, they found that the incidence of migraine attacks in the 28 patients treated with vitamin B2 was 37% lower than that in those patients taking the placebo, and the severity of migraine attacks was also reduced.

Studies have shown that riboflavin is more effective than other migraine prevention drugs (such as beta-blockers, calcium overload blockers, etc.), with fewer side effects and low cost. This may be because riboflavin increases the energy potential of cellular mitochondria. Relevant studies have also shown that the onset of migraine in patients is related to the reduction of energy reserves in the diencephalon cells. When using vitamin B2 to prevent and treat migraines, it is most effective for moderate patients who only experience a few migraine attacks in a month. Most people will see the best results after three months of medication. The dosage should generally be around 400 mg or more per day, and it is best taken under the guidance of an experienced physician.

If you want to treat migraine, first you need a good sleep, the brain needs to be fully rested to relax, and secondly you need to take Chinese medicine or folk remedies. Some people say that sour jujube kernels are a good treatment method. Grinding sour jujube kernels and drinking water will have unexpected effects. If you are interested, you can try it, maybe the effect is good!
