What causes leg pain when walking for a long time?

2. Leg pain caused by sports trauma

① Leg pain caused by tendon and ligament strain: Improper exercise or excessive force can cause leg tendon and ligament strain, causing leg pain. Sharp pain may occur when the leg is flexed and extended, and the injured area is accompanied by swelling and congestion. Applying ice or a cold towel to the affected area can reduce swelling and pain.

② Meniscus injury causes leg pain: Most patients of this type have a history of acute knee sprain. The pain mainly occurs in the gaps on both sides of the knee joint. As the injury progresses, the knee joint may swell. Some patients experience weak legs or locked knees.

③ Knee synovitis induces leg pain: The pain is mostly confined to the knee joint. Patients often have a history of knee sprain and trauma before the onset of the disease. In the acute phase, local pain, swelling, limited movement and increased skin temperature may occur. Joint effusion is a typical manifestation of synovitis. If leg pain occurs at the same time as effusion, the chance of developing synovitis is higher.

What are the causes of leg pain? Tendon and muscle strain, meniscus injury and knee synovitis are important causes of leg pain in young and middle-aged people. Once similar symptoms are found, you should seek medical attention immediately for diagnosis and take appropriate treatment to avoid worsening of the condition and the occurrence of severe osteoarthritis, which will further increase the difficulty of treatment.
