What happens if you don't sleep for two days?

Sleeping is a normal physiological behavior. If a person does not sleep, many consequences will occur, because the human body needs rest time. If the human body does not get rest, not only will the work efficiency be reduced, but it will also lead to some other situations, and even possible illness. However, many people don’t know, so what will happen if you don’t sleep for two days?

24 hours later: At this point, something very strange will happen. People will be in an excited state, find everything interesting, and almost anything can make them laugh.

This is because the brain's limbic system is stimulated and is trying to compensate for the lack of sleep by increasing levels of dopamine, which transmits messages of happiness and excitement. However, when sleep deprivation lasts longer than this, all feelings of happiness begin to fade away. The person's memory begins to weaken, reaction time increases, and others may perceive the person as drunk.

After 48 hours: At this point, the situation becomes worse and the person's immune response and judgment will be impaired. People may also feel nauseous and may talk nonsense. Worst of all, the energy that powers the human body would be almost completely depleted. This is because without rest for such a long time, the body loses the ability to metabolize glucose, so people will be exhausted.

3 Days Later: At this point, things start to get really bad. Because people will have hallucinations at this time! The person begins to see things that are not there as the body desperately tries to understand what it is experiencing. Lacking vital chemicals and nutrients, as well as being exhausted physically and mentally, is definitely not a pleasant experience.

Furthermore, all previous effects become worse and the body begins to shut down. This is a clear sign that a person is at risk of becoming a "dead man," unable to communicate or function like a normal person.

In fact, the negative effects of long-term sleep deprivation are quite serious. Studies have shown that mice deprived of sleep for two weeks died. It has been speculated that this may be due to the stress of being constantly awakened, but sleep deprivation is one of the leading causes of death.
