What does liver qi stagnation mean?

Many of our friends often hear that they have liver qi stagnation when they go to see a Chinese medicine doctor. In fact, liver qi stagnation is a relatively abstract concept in Chinese medicine. It is generally related to long-term depression and low mood. It can be effectively regulated through some Chinese medicine methods to improve physical condition as much as possible. Here we introduce some clinical manifestations and treatment methods of liver qi stagnation.

The liver governs the regulation of emotions. The syndrome of liver qi stagnation is generally characterized by depression of emotions, bloating and pain in the areas where the liver meridian passes, bloating and pain in the chest, flanks, or lower abdomen, chest tightness, sighing, depression and irritability, or a foreign body sensation in the throat, or a goiter in the neck, or a lump under the ribs.

Women may experience the following symptoms:

1. The depression and anxiety caused by liver qi stagnation often lead to headaches, irritability, mood swings, chest and flank pain, abdominal distension, and endocrine disorders in women.

2. Whether a woman's menstruation is normal or not is closely related to the normal function of the liver's qi regulation. If the liver qi is not regulated, it can lead to too short a menstrual period, small menstrual volume, intermenstrual bleeding, dizziness during menstruation, and insomnia during menstruation.

3. The liver meridian runs through the flanks. Poor operation of the liver meridian may also lead to breast hyperplasia, breast nodules and even breast cancer.

4. Liver depression leads to insomnia, which is manifested as difficulty falling asleep, and even if you fall asleep, you will have many dreams and be easily startled. Failure to ensure sleep quality can cause women to lose their qi and blood, have rough skin, and have a dull complexion. Among them, insomnia caused by liver depression and fire transformation is mostly caused by anger damaging the liver.

5. Stagnation of liver qi will lead to unfavorable qi flow and loss of appetite, because of slow metabolism, weakness in limbs, laziness and lack of movement, thus causing problems such as obesity and constipation.

To treat liver qi stagnation, it is advisable to soothe the liver and relieve depression, and if necessary, use methods such as regulating qi and resolving phlegm, promoting blood circulation and softening hard masses.

If you find that you have any of the above symptoms, you should see a Chinese medicine doctor as soon as possible and use some better methods to effectively treat it.
