How to check internal hemorrhoids? What are the methods for examining internal hemorrhoids?

How to check internal hemorrhoids is what many patients want to know. Hemorrhoids are a common disease in anorectal department. Some people believe that nine out of ten people have hemorrhoids. Many people do not treat hemorrhoids. In fact, this is not a correct approach. Let's see how to check internal hemorrhoids:

(1) Visual examination. The patient can lie in the left lateral position or in the knee-elbow position. Ask the patient to strain to defecate and observe whether external or internal hemorrhoids prolapse. If varicose external hemorrhoids are found, they are often accompanied by mixed hemorrhoids where internal hemorrhoids meet above them.

(2) Digital rectal examination. This method can feel internal hemorrhoids that have already formed thrombus or internal hemorrhoids that have become fibrotic and hard, but it is more meaningful to use digital examination to rule out other lesions in the rectum or anal canal area. For example, rectal tumors, polyps and other diseases.

(3) Anoscopy. After fully lubricating the cylinder mirror tube wall with paraffin oil, gently and slowly insert it into the anus, remove the plug core, and observe the condition of the rectal mucosa under light. Normal mucosa is pink, with a smooth surface and a clear vascular network. If there is congestion, edema, ulcers or erosions, or polyps, it should be considered that there may be lesions in the upper rectum or colon, and further examination is required. If the rectal mucosa is normal, the anoscope can be slowly pulled out while observing. When the inner end of the anoscope reaches above the dentate line, you can see the internal hemorrhoids protruding toward the inner opening of the anoscope, appearing purple-red and hemispherical. At this time, attention should be paid to their number, size, location, and whether there is bleeding, ulcers, etc. on the mucosal surface. There are three common locations for internal hemorrhoids. Generally arranged in a clockwise direction. The knee and elbow positions are 1, 5, and 9 o'clock. If it is the lithotomy position, 3, 7, and 11 o'clock are common, which are primary internal hemorrhoids, also known as mother hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids in other parts of the body are also called sub-hemorrhoids, and their positions must be recorded in a clockwise direction to provide a basis for future treatment methods. In addition, when the anoscope reaches the dentate line, it is necessary to observe whether there are anal fissures, enlarged anal papillae and other lesions. Avoid repeated examinations that cause pain to patients.
