How to use moxibustion to treat low back pain?

Many people often suffer from back pain, especially those who work hard and need to do some high-intensity physical work. It may also be because they often need to use the strength of the waist and back during this period. It is common for some people who often work at a desk to have back pain. Female friends may also have back pain during menstruation, which can be relieved through moxibustion.

There are many methods of moxibustion, including moxa cone moxibustion, moxa roll (strip) moxibustion, warm needle moxibustion and warm moxibustion device moxibustion. According to different conditions, we need to choose different moxibustion methods for treatment. Most families choose moxa rolls (strips) for self-moxibustion. Now, let me introduce the treatment method of moxibustion:

When applying moxibustion on the waist, acupoint selection is a critical step. Generally, 3-5 acupoints are selected each time. The preferred acupoints are Mingmen and Shenshu, and then the pain points are selected. Mingmen point is a key point on the Du meridian of the human body. It is located between the two kidneys on the back, below the spinous process of the second lumbar vertebra, and opposite to the navel; Shenshu point is located 1.5 inches lateral to the spinous process of the second lumbar vertebra, that is, 1.5 inches lateral to both sides of Mingmen point. These three acupoints have the function of strengthening the waist and kidneys, and are important acupoints for treating low back pain.

After selecting the acupoints, light one end of the moxa stick, aim it at the acupoints or affected area, and smoke it about 2-3 cm away from the skin, so that there is a local warmth without burning pain. Generally, it takes 10-15 minutes each time, until the skin turns red (mild moxibustion); or keep a certain distance between the lighted end of the moxa stick and the skin of the moxibustion area, but do not fix it. Instead, move it to the left and right or rotate it repeatedly to apply moxibustion (spiral moxibustion); or the lighted end of the moxa stick is not fixed at a certain distance from the skin of the moxibustion area, but moxibustion is applied up and down like a bird pecking at food (pecking moxibustion).

When doing moxibustion, if you have no experience and do not know how to do it, it is recommended that you find a professional doctor. Otherwise, if you do moxibustion or acupuncture by yourself and find the wrong acupoints, it is still very dangerous. You should pay attention to it in time. If you have sore waist and back, doing some exercise can also relieve it.
