The spleen is a very important organ in our body. It helps us digest food. If there is a problem with our spleen, our life will be seriously affected, and people will lose weight quickly in a short period of time. There are many reasons for the enlargement of the spleen. Liver diseases are also prone to spleen diseases. So what is the reason for the enlargement of the spleen? The clinical causes of hepatosplenomegaly are as follows: 1. Acute hepatitis can cause liver enlargement. In patients with enlarged liver, the liver is soft, tender and painful to the touch in the liver area. Especially for patients with jaundice, other diseases that cause liver enlargement can be ruled out, and the diagnosis of acute hepatitis should be considered first. Splenomegaly is one of the signs of hepatitis. Most cases of spleen enlargement are soft in texture, slightly enlarged and tender to the touch. 2. Chronic hepatitis: The liver enlargement of chronic active and chronic persistent hepatitis is tough and tender to the touch. Some patients present pain in the liver area as the main symptom. Splenomegaly is a physical sign that some patients with chronic hepatitis have. The swelling is not obvious, the texture is hard and there is tenderness. 3. Cirrhosis can also cause hepatosplenomegaly in patients, but this is not the main sign of cirrhosis. 4. Once liver abscess is formed, systemic symptoms will become obvious and liver pain will intensify. If the lesion progresses slowly in the liver and abscesses form slowly, the liver will gradually enlarge and harden. There was no significant tenderness or percussion pain in the liver area. 5. Fatty liver is liver damage caused by impaired fat metabolism. The liver is mildly to moderately enlarged and tender to palpation, with a tough or hard texture and a smooth surface. (A) Mild swelling It is commonly seen in acute and chronic hepatitis, typhoid fever, miliary tuberculosis, malaria, infective endocarditis and sepsis, etc., and is generally soft in texture. (ii) Moderate swelling It is commonly seen in cirrhosis of the liver, sequelae of malaria, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, chronic hemolytic jaundice, lymphoma, systemic lupus erythematosus, etc., and its texture is generally hard. (III) Severe swelling A smooth spleen surface is seen in chronic myeloid leukemia, kala-azar, chronic malaria and myelofibrosis; an uneven surface with nodules is seen in lymphosarcoma and malignant histiocytosis. The cystic feeling on the spleen surface is seen in splenic cysts. |
