The point between the nose and the lips is called Ren Zhong, which is a common acupuncture point in medicine. It is a relatively important acupuncture point for the human body. For example, in first aid, when the patient is in shock, you can press the Ren Zhong point to promote the patient's rapid awakening. When a convulsion occurs, you can also press the Ren Zhong point for recovery. Massage of this acupuncture point can also treat diseases and regulate the body. Let us briefly understand this aspect. What is the area between nose and lips called? Philtrum: The indentation in the middle of the upper lip. It is also known as "Shuigouxue", "Ditch", "Shoutang" and "Ziting". It is one of the “thirteen parts”. Physiognomists believe that the philtrum is like a ditch, which should be wide, deep and unobstructed, indicating longevity and the birth of children. If it is shallow, narrow and congested, it is not a good sign. Wang Kui of the Song Dynasty wrote in Li Hai Ji Human Body: "The Shui Gou point of a person is located below the nose and above the mouth. It is also called Ren Zhong. It is located in the middle of heaven and earth in the human body." See "Shou Tang", "Gou Xu", "Ziting" and other entries. Traditional Chinese medicine term. ① Refers to the Ren Zhong point, which is located on the lower lip of the nose, in the middle of the nasolabial groove. ② Refers to the dividing point between single orifice and double orifice among the nine orifices of the body. The ears, eyes and nose above have double orifices, while the mouth and two anus below have single orifices. See "Maiwang": "Why is the area above the lips called the philtrum? If it is considered the center of the human body, then it should be between the navel and abdomen. From here upwards, the ears, eyes, and nose all have double orifices. From here downwards, the mouth and bowel movements all have single orifices. The upper three strokes are yang, and the lower three strokes are yin, forming the Tai hexagram." ③ Refers to the center of the line connecting the head and feet of the human body, approximately in the navel and abdomen. Du meridian acupoints. Also called ditch. Located in the center of the philtrum near the nostrils. One of the important acupoints connecting the Ren and Du meridians in the Zhoutian Gong method. Application of acupuncture at Renzhong point in emergency: 1. Shock: Shock is one of the most common critical illnesses in clinical practice. Acupuncture at the Ren Zhong point, on the basis of timely symptomatic treatment of Western medicine, has the advantages of rapid blood pressure increase and short recovery time. For example, for patients with severe hemorrhagic shock, if the blood volume is replenished in large quantities, the Shui Gou point can be punctured quickly and stimulated strongly. The blood pressure-raising effect and the awakening effect can be advanced by 15 to 30 minutes or longer. 2. Convulsions: In clinical practice, acupuncture at the Ren Zhong point is mainly used to treat convulsions caused by high fever in children. It can be combined with acupuncture at the Yongquan point or medication to achieve an ideal control effect. Directly pierce the Ren Zhong point, and lift, insert, and twist. If the seizure does not stop after 1 minute, use the same technique to pierce the Yongquan point. Convulsions in most children can be controlled within 1 minute. Combined with oral Chinese medicine for clearing heat and calming wind, recurrence can be effectively controlled. 5% chloral hydrate retention enema combined with acupuncture in the Ren Zhong point for about 2 minutes can stop convulsions. 3. Acute lumbar sprain: Acupuncture at the Ren Zhong point or a combination of Ren Zhong and other acupoints can treat acute lumbar sprain. Insert the needle 0.5 inches along the direction of the nasal septum at the Ren Zhong point, and perform the heavy twisting and draining method to make a noticeable pain and swelling at the needle site; continue the operation for 3 to 5 minutes, then retain the needle for 30 minutes, and move the needle once every 5 to 10 minutes. The therapeutic effect is satisfactory. Use a 1-inch needle to quickly insert into the Ren Zhong acupoint, rotate the needle 180° for 3 to 5 times, retain the needle for 30 minutes, and use soft tissue release techniques. While the needle is retained, let the patient move his waist, and the effect is obvious. |
