What is Typhoid Fever?

Typhoid face: expressionless, slow reaction, and lack of desire. Seen in patients with high fever exhaustion such as typhoid fever, meningitis, encephalitis, etc. Most of these are the facial features of patients with high fever and weakness such as typhoid fever, encephalitis, and meningitis.

Differential diagnosis of typhoid face:

1. Bitter smile: Tetanus is a neurological syndrome caused by the toxin of Clostridium tetani. The patient has local or systemic muscle paroxysms or tonic spasms. Because the facial, jaw and neck muscles are often affected, the patient has clenched jaws and a "bitter smile" as characteristic manifestations.

2. Anemic face: pale and dull complexion, pale eyelids, lips and tongue, and tired and weak expression.

3. Dementia face: large head and short neck, small palpebral fissures, deep, wide and flat nose, enlarged nostrils, large and thick tongue that often sticks out of the mouth, commonly seen in patients with cretinism.

4. Cachexia face: The face is extremely thin, the complexion is sallow, and the skin has poor elasticity. It is often seen in patients with chronic wasting diseases, such as tuberculosis, advanced cancer, etc.

5. Mask face: The facial expression is dull, as if wearing a mask, which is common in patients with encephalitis and tremor paralysis.

6. Hemispasm: Paroxysmal irregular twitching of the facial muscles on one side of the face, sometimes only manifested as eye spasms or twitching of the corners of the mouth. It is common in patients with sequelae of facial nerve paralysis, trigeminal neuralgia, and central nervous system disorders.

7. Appearing indifferent, slow to react, weak in energy and lazy to speak is called "desireless appearance".
