Cervical spondylosis and headache

Cervical spondylosis and headache

Most people who suffer from cervical spondylosis have some bad habits, such as sitting in front of the computer for more than ten hours a day. Especially some people engaged in design and finance professions are prone to cervical spondylosis. Cervical spondylosis and headaches are also closely related, because when cervical spondylosis becomes serious, it will compress the brain nerves, causing headaches. In addition, the occurrence of cervical spondylosis will also affect vision.

Cervical spondylosis headache is caused by cervical spine dislocation, cervical degeneration, and cervical spondylosis.

Some scholars call this type of headache occipital neuralgia. The cause of headaches is problems with the first, second, and third cervical nerve roots. The area is usually only on one side, extending from the neck to the back of the head, the side of the head and behind the eyeball. Many medical personnel mistakenly diagnose cervical spondylosis headaches as migraines.

prevention

Prevention is one of the important aspects of preventing cervical spondylosis. It is generally believed that the intervertebral discs of the spine begin to degenerate after they develop into adults. In fact, the degeneration of each intervertebral disc varies greatly from person to person. From the perspective of age, the analysis of 100 asymptomatic cervical X-rays showed that intervertebral disc degeneration and bone hyperplasia increase with age: 2/20 people in the group under 20 years old; 2/20 people in the group aged 20-29 years old; 4/20 people in the group aged 30-39 years old; 16/20 people in the group aged 40-49 years old and 50 years old and above. The chances of spinal trauma are highest during infancy and adolescence, so the prevention of cervical spondylosis should start in childhood. Strengthening physical exercise can strengthen the soft tissue around the vertebrae and help enhance the stability of the spine. Pay more attention to preventing injuries and correcting bad postures in work and life. In addition to trauma, common triggering factors of cervical spondylosis include stiff neck, cold, excessive fatigue, forced work, poor posture and other diseases. The pathogenic factors of cervical spondylosis are complex, but they can be generally divided into internal factors (internal factors) and external factors (acute and chronic trauma), and the two can be causal to each other. Internal factors are the basis of disease.

Things to note about cervical spondylosis headache

1. Do not sleep on your stomach, and choose the most suitable health pillow.

2. Avoid and reduce acute injuries, such as avoiding lifting heavy objects and not applying emergency brakes.

3. Prevent wind, cold and humidity. Avoid taking a bath or being blown by wind and cold at midnight or early morning. Wind and cold will cause local blood vessels to constrict and blood flow to decrease, which will hinder tissue metabolism and waste removal. Humidity will hinder skin evaporation.

4. Actively treat local infections and other diseases.

5. Correct bad posture and reduce strain. Do neck exercises every 1-2 hours when you lower or raise your head to relieve muscle tension. To prevent the occurrence of cervical spondylosis, the most important thing is to improve your sitting posture. When you are working hard, you can also do shoulder and neck exercises intermittently.
