TCM Syndrome Differentiation of Kidney Deficiency

TCM Syndrome Differentiation of Kidney Deficiency

Kidney deficiency...This involves a term in traditional Chinese medicine and also involves clinical syndromes. Kidney deficiency mainly has four aspects: kidney yin deficiency, kidney yang deficiency, kidney meridian deficiency and kidney qi deficiency.

The "kidney" in the concept of "kidney deficiency" in traditional medicine not only refers to the anatomical kidney, but also an important organ with a wide range of physiological functions, which is directly or indirectly related to human reproduction, growth and development, digestion, endocrine metabolism, etc. "Kidney deficiency" is a broad concept, which includes diseases related to the urinary system, reproductive system, endocrine metabolic system, nervous system, as well as digestive system, blood system, respiratory system and many other systems.

There are many symptoms of kidney deficiency, which can be summarized as follows:

1. In terms of brain power:

Memory loss: Memory loss, poor concentration, lack of energy and reduced work efficiency.

2. In terms of emotions, it manifests as:

Bad mood often makes it difficult to control emotions, causing dizziness, irritability, restlessness, anxiety, depression, etc.

3. In terms of will, it is manifested as:

Lack of self-confidence, lack of confidence, lack of enthusiasm for work, no passion for life, no goals and direction.

4. In terms of sexual function:

Decreased sexual function: Men have decreased sexual interest and desire, impotence or weak penis, nocturnal emission, spermatorrhea, premature ejaculation, and microscopic examination may show a decrease in sperm count or decreased sperm motility, leading to infertility. Female uterine hypoplasia, such as immature uterus, premature ovarian failure, amenorrhea, irregular menstruation, decreased libido, infertility, etc.

5. In terms of urinary manifestations:

Frequent urination, delayed urination, and long, clear urination.

6. Symptoms of kidney deficiency may also include:

Premature aging, forgetfulness, insomnia, loss of appetite, bone and joint pain, weakness in waist and knees, fatigue intolerance, weakness, decreased vision, and hearing loss. Hair loss, gray hair, hair loss or premature graying of hair, loose and easy falling teeth, etc.

7. Premature aging of the face, eye bags, dark circles, dull complexion, rough and dry skin, wrinkles, spots, middle-aged acne, lack of skin elasticity; the voice gradually becomes hoarse, female breasts begin to sag, fat accumulates in the waist and abdomen; males become bald early, etc.

The difference between kidney yang deficiency and kidney yin deficiency

What is Yin deficiency? What is Yang deficiency? What is blood deficiency? What is Qi deficiency? These are not easy questions for Chinese medicine professionals to distinguish. But for most patients it is very confusing. "Yin deficiency causes fever; yang deficiency causes fear of cold; blood deficiency causes dryness; qi deficiency causes weakness." Although these four sentences cannot cover the entirety of dialectics, many people do understand different deficiency syndromes. Clinically, kidney yin deficiency and kidney yang deficiency are more common. Kidney yin deficiency and kidney yang deficiency are both part of kidney deficiency and represent a certain type of syndrome, which can be distinguished based on the symptoms.

1. Symptoms of Kidney Yang Deficiency

The most common symptoms of kidney yang deficiency are low back pain and cold hands and feet, accompanied by frequent urination.

The symptoms of kidney yang deficiency generally have the following process:

Men will first feel pain in the waist, because the waist is the home of the kidneys. While feeling the pain, they can also feel a distinct chill inside the waist, which is the most typical symptom of kidney yang deficiency. It will then spread to the patient's entire body, and the whole body will feel cold.

2. Symptoms of Kidney Yin Deficiency

Clinically, there are more symptoms of kidney yin deficiency: sore waist and weak legs, dry mouth, irritability, hot palms and sweating are all symptoms of kidney yin deficiency. Men with sexual dysfunction such as impotence due to kidney yin deficiency.

In addition, one principle should be paid attention to when tonifying the kidney. When the kidney is deficient in yin, the fire is easy to be strong. When yin is deficient and the fire is strong, if you use warm aphrodisiac drugs at this time, it is tantamount to adding fuel to the fire, and the patient's fever will be even greater. On the other hand, if the patient has kidney yang deficiency and is afraid of cold, if you use some yin-nourishing medicines, it would be making the situation worse and the patient would not be able to bear it either.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that everything is divided into two aspects, yin and yang. The human kidney is also divided into kidney yin and kidney yang. The cause of renal dysfunction may be caused by kidney yin deficiency or kidney yang deficiency. Therefore, to tonify the kidney, we must find out the cause and tonify it according to the type.

Kidney Yin deficiency and kidney Yang deficiency are a term in Traditional Chinese Medicine theory. Kidney Yin deficiency and kidney Yang deficiency are also symptoms in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The kidney deficiency we usually talk about includes kidney Yin deficiency and kidney Yang deficiency, and also includes both Yin and Yang deficiency of the kidney. Kidney Yin deficiency and kidney Yang deficiency involve the basic theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which contain a lot of content. Kidney Yin is material, while kidney Yang and kidney Qi are functional. If too much substances are consumed, such as kidney essence, or sexual life is too frequent, or labor (including mental and physical labor) is excessive, or the person is born weak and has a relatively low material foundation, symptoms such as weakness in the waist and knees, fatigue in the limbs, dizziness, tinnitus, hair loss, loose teeth, memory loss, loss of libido, nocturnal emission, premature ejaculation, etc. may appear. These are symptoms of kidney yin deficiency. Kidney Yin deficiency is prone to false heat. According to TCM theory, Yin deficiency causes internal heat, which can easily lead to heat in the five hearts (that is, the palms of the hands, the soles of the feet, and the heart feel hot) and night sweats when sleeping (that is, falling asleep and waking up with sweat on the body). Young and middle-aged people are more active, whether studying or exercising, and they consume more material resources. Their sexual desire is not particularly low, but they ejaculate quickly or have nocturnal emission, so they need to replenish kidney yin. Kidney yang deficiency has the same symptoms as kidney yin deficiency, such as soreness of waist and knees, fatigue of limbs, and decreased libido. Because it is yang deficiency, according to TCM theory, yang deficiency will produce external cold, and symptoms of fear of cold will appear, with pale complexion, chills, cold hands and feet, clear and long urine, and loose stools. Low libido is similar to what modern medicine calls low androgen levels. The manifestations of yang deficiency are external, while the manifestations of kidney yin deficiency are internal. The symptom of kidney yang deficiency is fear of cold. Kidney yin deficiency is prone to premature ejaculation and spermatorrhea, while kidney yang deficiency is more likely to cause impotence. The common thing is that low back pain, fatigue, and sore limbs are common symptoms.

Doctors throughout the ages believe that kidney deficiency is one of the main causes of illness and aging in the elderly. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the essence of health lies in "yin and yang are in balance, and the spirit is in good health." This means that under normal circumstances, the functions of the five internal organs, the six bowels, the nourishing and defensive qi and blood, the limbs and bones, and the fourteen meridians can all coordinate yin and yang and achieve relative balance. Balance is the symbol of health.

The reason why people age in old age is that the human body is in a physiological state of: Qi and blood deficiency, mental exhaustion, congenital deficiency, acquired malnutrition, kidney yin deficiency, liver fire rising, toxin accumulation and meridian blockage.

Effectively regulating the imbalance of the body's yin and yang, qi and blood, and organ functions at an early stage, and promptly expelling toxins and correcting kidney deficiency are the keys to delaying aging and preventing geriatric diseases. The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine believes that "exhaustion of the essence, lack of essence, and kidney weakness" can cause the human body to age. The famous traditional Chinese medicine doctor Yue Meizhong believes that: "When people age, the kidneys dry up first, and then all the internal organs are affected." Zhu Danxi said in "Gezhi Yu Lun": "After people reach the age of sixty or seventy, their essence and blood are depleted. They have fever symptoms even when they are fine. What are they? Dizziness, itchy muscles, frequent urination, runny nose, falling teeth, excessive saliva and little sleep, weak feet and deafness, forgetfulness, dizziness, dry intestines, dirty face, hair loss and blurred vision... All these are symptoms of old age... The above symptoms are all due to lack of blood." This shows that the depletion of essence and blood, accumulation of toxins and blockage of meridians are the causes of human aging.

Kidney deficiency reflects the natural law of kidney essence deficiency in the elderly. To help the elderly live a healthy and long life, it is necessary to nourish the kidneys, detoxify, and treat kidney deficiency symptoms in the early stages. Prevention of aging should start at the age of 30, anti-aging should start at the age of 40, and longevity should start at the age of 60. Kidney deficiency should be diagnosed and treated in time.

3. Symptoms of Kidney Qi Deficiency

Symptoms include easy fatigue, shortness of breath, weakness in the waist and knees, frequent urination (frequent urination at night), and a pale tongue.

Male patients may experience spermatorrhea or premature ejaculation, while female patients will have clear and thin leucorrhea and slippery fetal movements.

Treatment should start with tonifying the kidney. Because the kidney can be yin-deficient, yang-deficient, essence-deficient, or qi-deficient, tonifying the kidney involves different approaches and medications, such as tonifying kidney yang, nourishing kidney yin, replenishing kidney qi, and filling kidney essence.
