1. Blood in the stool. In the early stages of internal hemorrhoids, there is mostly painless blood in the stool, sometimes dripping blood, sometimes spurting blood, or blood sticking to toilet paper; while the main symptom of rectal prolapse is prolapse of the anal canal and mucosa, and blood in the stool is rare.

2. Pain. Internal hemorrhoids are generally painless in the early stages, but become incarcerated in the late stages and cause unbearable pain; and rectal prolapse is sometimes accompanied by severe pain.

3. Mucus. Internal hemorrhoids often have symptoms such as wet anus, while rectal prolapse often causes mucus to overflow from the anus. The symptoms of the two are quite similar.

4. Prolapse. Internal hemorrhoids prolapse into the hemorrhoids, which may sometimes become incarcerated in the late stages; while rectal prolapse involves the rectal mucosa, anal canal and rectum, which may reach more than ten centimeters in the late stages.

In terms of diet, you should be careful not to consume too much meat or vegetables, balance coarse and fine grains properly, and eat more vegetables and fruits rich in fiber.

Doing levator ani muscle exercises (rhythmically contract the anus 30-50 times before going to bed every day) and exercising the contraction ability of the levator ani muscles can prevent the occurrence of hemorrhoids.
