What causes neuralgia?

What causes neuralgia?

There is not a single cause of neuralgic headaches. Sometimes bad living and working habits may lead to these symptoms. For example, excessive pressure from work and life, and long-term tension and contraction of the head muscles can cause neuralgic headaches.

1. Due to work, family and other issues

Middle-aged and elderly people with hypertensive headaches are often in a state of tension and anxiety due to work, family and other issues, which makes them physically and mentally exhausted, and their physical strength decreases. Hypertension can sneak up on them without them feeling it. Patients feel confused, have dull pain in the brain, and sometimes even faint or experience weakness and numbness in the fingertips. These are all caused by high blood pressure.

2. Tension and contraction of head muscles

Neuralgic headaches are caused by tense and contracted head muscles, which make the head feel tight or compressed, heavy, and often throbbing and pulling pains. They are aggravated by excessive smoking and drinking. This is mostly caused by irregular lifestyle, excessive smoking and drinking, and lack of sleep. Menopausal headaches are caused by endocrine changes, which affect a person's physiological functions and often lead to personality changes. Patients may experience symptoms such as irritability, fatigue, laziness, mental tension, lack of libido, and scanty menstruation.

3. More common in mental workers

Neurasthenia headaches are more common in people who do mental work. They often work day and night without sleep and forget to eat and sleep. Lack of exercise, malnutrition and excessive fatigue lead to brain failure. Patients often experience headaches, insomnia, memory loss, and a sense of premature aging. Headache caused by intracranial space-occupying lesions Headache caused by brain tumors or other intracranial lesions usually occurs recently and is intermittent, lasting for several hours a day, and may be caused or disappeared with changes in body position. Initially, the headache may be localized to the tumor site, but may become diffuse as intracranial pressure increases.
