What to do if your skin is itchy in winter? Dryness is to blame

In winter, the weather will be very dry, and many people's skin will be particularly dry. If it is not properly cared for, it will become dry and itchy. At this time, you must take a bath properly, control the water temperature, apply moisturizer in time after washing, and also adjust your diet.

1. Take a bath correctly in autumn and winter to avoid skin itching

When the cold wind blows, the itchy skin under the thick winter clothes feels like a bug is crawling on it, making people want to scratch it. Therefore, the sight of many handsome men and beautiful women in well-dressed clothes scratching their itch through their clothes looks quite funny and embarrassing. Nowadays, bathing conditions have improved, and more and more people suffer from itchy skin in winter. Skin itching used to be a common problem among the elderly, but now it has become a common "enemy" of urban white-collar workers.

Step 1. The water temperature should be between 40 and 50 degrees Celsius, slightly higher than body temperature but not hot. Water that is too hot will damage the sebum film, cause micro-damage to the skin, and aggravate itching.

Step 2. If you take a shower every day, 5-10 minutes each time will be enough, and do not exceed 30 minutes. A tub bath or a wooden barrel bath is recommended because soaking in water can promote the skin to absorb moisture, speed up blood circulation, and improve skin metabolism. When taking a bath, do not rub to avoid skin damage and aggravating itching.

In addition, when the elderly take a bath, the water level should not exceed the heart level. You can boil two handfuls of starch or oats, put them in the bathtub, and do not rinse them after bathing. Starch baths and oatmeal baths can soothe the skin, reduce skin sensitivity, protect the sebum film, and relieve skin itching.

Step 3. Try to choose neutral or weakly acidic shower gel, and do not use alkaline soap or soap. To judge the acidity and alkalinity, just look at the product description. When taking a bath in winter, you don’t need to use shower gel unless you are particularly dirty.

Step 4. After bathing, be sure to apply lotion before your skin is completely dry. Apply it all over your body except your armpits and groin. The calves, waist, buttocks and forearms have the least sebaceous glands and are most prone to itching, so apply more or repeatedly. Since after-bath lotion only moisturizes for one or two days, remember to apply it even if you don't shower.

2. Internal adjustment: Solve skin itching by nourishing the lungs

1. Wind-heat type is caused by cold and fever, and the virus destroys tissues, causing skin itching. It can be treated with Ephedra, Almond, Licorice and Gypsum Decoction.

2. Damp-heat type

If you like to eat cold food, it will cause damp heat to descend and cause itching in the legs. You can use some heat-clearing and dampness-removing medicines according to your physical condition, such as Patchouli, Isatis Root, Honeysuckle, etc., to relieve skin itching. At the same time, you must pay attention to eating less cold foods.

3. Occlusive skin is blocked, which prevents body fluids from leaking out and causes moisture to accumulate, leading to itching. The disease can be treated with a series of Guizhi Decoctions, such as Gegen Decoction, Qinglong Decoction, and Guizhi Jia Huangqi Decoction, to harmonize the Ying and Wei Qi and blood.
