The air-filled cavities in the skull surrounding the nasal cavity; there are four pairs of sinuses: frontal, maxillary, ethmoid, and sphenoid. Due to its anatomical characteristics, each sinus can be affected independently or multiple sphenoid sinusitis can occur. This disease is generally divided into two categories: acute and chronic. It has many causes and is relatively complicated. Acute sphenoid sinusitis is mostly caused by acute rhinitis; chronic sphenoid sinusitis is often caused by the failure to completely cure acute sphenoid sinusitis or repeated attacks. It is currently believed that the main cause of sphenoid sinusitis is infection in the sphenoid sinus due to obstruction of the sinus opening caused by various reasons. Among them, nasal polyps are an important cause of obstruction of the sphenoid sinus opening, and the inflammatory stimulation of the sphenoid sinus in turn promotes the growth of nasal polyps. In addition, sewage entering the sphenoid sinus during swimming, the spread of infection to adjacent organs, nasal tumors obstructing sphenoid sinus drainage, and trauma can all cause sphenoid sinusitis.

1. Strengthen physical exercise to improve physical fitness and prevent colds.

2. Acute rhinitis and toothache should be treated actively.

3. Timely and thorough treatment of acute nasal inflammation and correction of nasal deformities, and treatment of chronic rhinitis.

The sphenoid sinus is located in the body of the sphenoid bone, at the uppermost part of the nasal cavity. Right in the center of the head. There is one sphenoid sinus on each side. The septum between them is always tilted, so the sizes of the two sides are not the same. Sometimes one side does not develop and is absent, and the sphenoid sinus is deep and high. The sinus opening is not large, so the chance of causing sphenoid sinusitis is low. The sphenoid bone is part of the skull base. The superior, posterior and lateral walls of the sphenoid sinus are in direct contact with important brain tissues, and severe sphenoid sinusitis can often affect them. The sphenoid sinus rarely occurs alone, and the symptoms are not obvious when it occurs. It often occurs at the same time as the posterior ethmoid sinus, so it is very easy to be neglected and missed in clinical diagnosis.
