1. Physiological

4. The number of platelets in newborns is relatively low, but it reaches the adult level after 3 months.

5. The platelet count in venous blood is slightly higher than that in peripheral blood.

2. Pathological

1. Decreased platelets:

(1) Impairment of bone marrow hematopoietic function leads to decreased platelet production, such as aplastic anemia, acute leukemia, radiation sickness, and the use of anticancer drugs.

(2) Thrombocytopenia caused by excessive platelet destruction, such as idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, hypersplenism, extracorporeal circulation, etc.
