What foods should not be eaten by patients with lupus nephritis

Patients with lupus nephritis have many dietary taboos, so they must be careful about the choice of food. For example, seafood cannot be eaten because it is an allergic food. They are also forbidden to eat spicy, greasy and other strong-flavored foods.

1. Seafood, commonly known as "hair-raising food" . What should not be eaten by patients with lupus nephritis? Eating seafood may cause allergic reactions that may induce or aggravate the condition.

Avoid seafood-like foods, such as marine fish, shrimp, jellyfish, beef, mutton, pork head, onion, leek, and toon head. Alfalfa and beans such as soybeans, broad beans, and adzuki beans contain L-canavanine, which can worsen lupus nephropathy, so their consumption should be limited or avoided as much as possible.

2. Patients with lupus nephritis should avoid greasy and strong-tasting foods. What should not be eaten by patients with lupus nephritis? Greasy food has a relatively high fat content, and the blood vessels of lupus patients have lesions. Lupus patients often have kidney disease, so their diet should be light and not too salty. Too much salt will increase the burden on the kidneys and increase water and sodium retention in the body. The salt intake should not exceed 5-8 grams.

3. What patients with lupus nephritis should not eat : dog meat, venison, and longan. These are warm in nature and can cause severe internal heat symptoms in patients after eating them.

It is necessary to control the fat content in the diet. People with lupus nephritis should not eat anything, especially reduce the intake of high-fat meat and avoid fried foods. A high-protein and low-salt diet should be provided. It is mainly composed of protein and high-quality animal protein, such as lean meat, various scaly fish, etc. You can also use skim milk twice a day, 250 ml each time. Different low-salt diets are adopted according to the type of lupus nephritis and the degree of clinical edema and hypertension. For example, the salt intake of patients with edema due to nephrotic syndrome should be less than 3 grams per day.

4. Patients with lupus nephritis should avoid fried foods. Lupus patients have inflammatory lesions in the gastrointestinal tract and poor digestion and absorption functions. They should not eat anything with lupus nephritis. Fried foods are hot and difficult to digest, which can increase the burden on the gastrointestinal tract, cause indigestion, damage the spleen and stomach, and aggravate the condition.
