Nursing measures for arrhythmia

Nursing measures for arrhythmia

Arrhythmia is a type of heart disease. When caring for such patients, attention should be paid to the patient's emotions and breathing. Arrhythmia can cause patients to experience symptoms such as chest tightness, dizziness, and palpitations, so sleeping posture is very important.

1. General care

1. Rest: When arrhythmia attacks the patient and causes symptoms such as palpitations, chest tightness, dizziness, etc., the patient should be guaranteed adequate rest and sleep. The patient should avoid lying on the left side during rest to prevent the patient from feeling the heartbeat and aggravating the discomfort.

2. Eat foods rich in fiber to prevent constipation; avoid full meals and consuming irritating foods such as coffee, strong tea, etc.

(II) Observation of the condition

Connect the ECG monitor to continuously monitor changes in heart rate and rhythm and detect danger signs early. Measure vital signs promptly, measure pulse for 1 minute, and listen to heart rate at the same time. When the patient experiences frequent multifocal ventricular premature contractions, RonT ventricular premature contractions, ventricular tachycardia, second-degree type II, and third-degree atrioventricular block, notify the doctor promptly and cooperate with the treatment. Monitor electrolyte changes, especially serum potassium.

(III) Rescue cooperation

Prepare rescue equipment (such as defibrillator, electrocardiograph, ECG monitor, temporary pacemaker, etc.) and various antiarrhythmic drugs and other rescue medicines, and be prepared for rescue.

(IV) Medication care

When using antiarrhythmic drugs, closely observe the effects and adverse reactions of the drugs to prevent the occurrence of toxic and side effects.

(V) Nursing of interventional treatment

Introduce to patients the purpose and methods of interventional treatments such as cardiac catheter radiofrequency ablation or pacemaker implantation to eliminate patients' nervousness and enable them to actively cooperate with the treatment. And provide appropriate care for interventional treatment.

(VI) Health Guidance

1. Explain to the patient the causes of arrhythmia and common inducing factors, such as emotional tension, excessive fatigue, acute infection, cold stimulation, bad living habits (smoking, drinking strong tea and coffee), etc.

2. Guide patients to combine work and rest and lead a regular life. People without organic heart disease should actively participate in physical exercise. Keep your emotions stable and avoid mental tension and excitement. Change bad eating habits, quit smoking and drinking, and avoid stimulating foods such as strong tea, coffee, and cola. Keep bowel movements smooth and avoid straining during defecation which may aggravate arrhythmia.

3. Explain the name, dosage, usage, effects and adverse reactions of the medication to the patient, and ask the patient to take the medication regularly. The dosage or type of medication should not be increased or decreased at will.

4. Teach patients and their families how to measure pulse, what to do when arrhythmia occurs, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, so as to facilitate self-monitoring of the condition and self-rescue. Explain self-monitoring and home care methods to patients with pacemakers.

5. Check electrocardiogram and follow up regularly, and seek medical attention promptly if any abnormality is found.
