Does cervical acupuncture work?

Cervical spondylosis is a chronic disease that takes a long time to develop. For many patients, conservative methods are often used for treatment. Common methods include acupuncture, massage, and manipulation. They all have certain effects in relieving pain and preventing symptoms from worsening. Acupuncture can promote blood circulation and is good at relieving dizziness caused by hypoxia. Acupuncture treatment can be performed for patients with cervical spondylosis.

Does cervical acupuncture work?

Regarding the occurrence of cervical spondylosis, traditional Chinese medicine believes that it is mostly caused by the invasion of wind, cold and dampness, disharmony of qi and blood, and blockage of meridians. Therefore, acupuncture treatment is mainly used to relax the meridians and promote blood circulation.

Juegu point and Houxi point are often used

According to the principle of selecting acupuncture points along the meridians in traditional Chinese medicine theory, Juegu and Houxi acupoints are often used, and combined with local acupoints such as Dazhui, Fengfu, Tianji, Tianmu, Tianzhu, etc. Generally, the treatment is done once a day, with the needles retained for 20-30 minutes each time, and one course of treatment is 2 weeks. Because Juegu point belongs to the foot Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian, which is the three yang collaterals of the foot and is the meeting point of the marrow, Houxi point belongs to the Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian, which is one of the eight meridian meeting points and passes through the Du meridian. The back of the neck is the route for the Du meridian, the Foot-Taiyang Bladder meridian, and the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder meridian; the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine meridian and the Hand-Shaoyang Triple Burner meridian pass through both sides of the neck. Therefore, it can dredge the meridians, regulate qi and blood, relax muscles and relieve pain.

Electroacupuncture can also be used to treat cervical spondylosis

You can also choose the above-mentioned acupoints or Ashi point as well as Tianzhu, Fengchi, Quchi, Waiguan, Hegu and other acupoints. After acupuncture, turn on the electrotherapy device, connect the positive pole to the auxiliary acupoint, and the negative pole to the main acupoint, and stimulate with pulse current at a frequency of 200-250 times/minute. It can be done once a day, each time for about half an hour, and a course of treatment is two weeks.

Warm Fire Needle Therapy

Choose the acupoint 5 fen beside the affected cervical vertebra, combined with Jianjing, Quchi, etc. After inserting the needle, put the moxa segment on the needle handle about 20 mm away from the skin, and ignite it from its lower end. Be careful not to burn the skin. The main acupoints can be treated with 2-3 strong points, and the auxiliary acupoints can be treated with 1-2 strong points. Once a day, one week as a course of treatment. Simple moxibustion treatment method: acupoints include Tianzhu, Fengchi, Jianjing, Jianyu, Dazhui, Dashu, etc. Moxibustion is performed twice a day, 3 to 5 times each time. You can also use suspended moxibustion with moxa sticks. This can also achieve the effects of relaxing muscles and tendons, promoting blood circulation and relieving pain, and dispelling wind and dampness. Acupoint injection method: You can choose the Ashi point beside the cervical spine to inject the prepared medicine (the commonly used medicine is 10% glucose 5-10ml plus compound danshen injection 2ml, vitamin B1, 5Dmg). The course of treatment for cervical spondylosis can be determined according to different conditions, generally twice a week.
