What causes cerebral vasospasm? Reasons that cannot be ignored

There are many causes of cerebral vasospasm, the main ones being mechanical stimulation and functional factors. If we put too much pressure on ourselves in our daily lives and are too nervous, this disease may also be caused.

1. Mechanical stimulation factors

The destruction of the vascular wall structure caused by compression from encapsulated blood clots and vascular nutritional disorders; damage caused by the oxidation of oxygenated hemoglobin into methemoglobin and the release of oxygen free radicals; vasoconstriction effects of various other vasoactive substances, such as 5-HT, catecholamines, hemoglobin and arachidonic acid metabolites; increased intracranial pressure, excessive dehydration treatment without timely blood volume replenishment; and vascular wall inflammation and immune response and other factors. In addition, the balance between sympathetic and parasympathetic functions and the self-regulatory mechanism of cerebral blood flow are also hot topics of research.

2. Functional factors

Simple cerebral vasospasm refers to the abnormal contraction of cerebral arteries for a period of time. It is a functional disease, which means that the disease is a cerebrovascular dysfunction caused by various factors. There is no substantial damage or lesions in the cerebral blood vessels. Most patients are young people with better self-regulation ability, so the prognosis is good. Most patients can recover completely after treatment and relaxation. Hemiplegia and psychotic abnormalities do not occur in this disease. However, if combined with intracranial aneurysm, cerebral arteriosclerosis, hypertension and other diseases, it is easy to cause cerebral hemorrhage. If not treated in time, paralysis or other neurological symptoms may occur and even life-threatening.

3. Other factors

Emotional fluctuations, anger, psychological disorders, and stress are the most common causes of cerebral vasospasm. Most patients are students, especially high school and college entrance examination students. They have a stressful study life, insufficient sleep, and no chance to relax. They are most likely to suffer from cerebral vasospasm. Insomnia can also cause cerebral vasospasm. The incidence rate is relatively high among young women and those who do mental work.
