What medicine should I take for cystitis and urethritis?

Inflammation can be said to be women's biggest enemy. Women are more likely to suffer from different types of inflammation in their lives than men. In addition to inflammation in gynecological diseases, cystitis and urethritis also frequently visit women. Summer is the peak season for various inflammations. Especially in the hot July and August, the number of women going to the hospital for treatment will increase significantly at this time of year. So what medicines should women take when they suffer from cystitis and urethritis?

Urethritis refers to inflammation of the urethral mucosa, which is mostly caused by retrograde invasion of pathogenic bacteria into the urethra. The symptoms are generally frequent urination, painful urination, urgency and hematuria. During acute attacks, there is dull pain in the suprapubic area and perineum, and the urethral opening may be red and have secretions.

Cystitis is caused by bacterial infection, most of which are caused by Escherichia coli. The most typical symptoms of cystitis are frequent urination, urgency, pain when urinating, and even urge incontinence, and there may be hematuria and pyuria.

From this we can see that urethritis and cystitis are both caused by bacterial infection, and the symptoms are generally manifested as frequent urination, urgency, pain and hematuria.

Therefore, urethritis and cystitis generally select effective antibiotics based on bacterial culture and drug sensitivity tests, and the commonly used antibiotic is norfloxacin. If the patient has urinary tract irritation symptoms and conventional antimicrobial treatment is ineffective, and there are no complicating factors, mycoplasma, chlamydia or viral infection should be considered, and tetracycline can be used as the first treatment. If there is resistance to tetracycline, erythromycin, methyl erythromycin or roxithromycin can be used instead.

Patients with urethritis and cystitis should pay attention to drinking plenty of water to increase urine volume, which can flush urethral secretions during urination. They can also use sedatives, analgesics and antispasmodics to relieve pain. Pay attention to rest and avoid sexual intercourse in the short term during the acute phase. In addition, urethritis and cystitis are mostly caused by unclean perineum, which causes bacteria to move upward through the urethra and cause infection. Therefore, the key to preventing cystitis is to keep the perineum clean and hygienic.
