What is the cause of perianal pain?

Perianal pain may be caused by hemorrhoids. Both internal and external hemorrhoids can cause perianal pain. Perianal pain often occurs in diseases such as anal fissure, anal sinusitis, thrombosed external hemorrhoids, and perianal abscess. The nature and degree of pain vary from individual to individual.

1. Rectal mucosal prolapse: The tissue inside the anus prolapses to the outside of the anus. But what we are talking about here is rectal mucosal prolapse, in which the rectal mucosa is loose and accumulates in the rectum, but has not yet prolapsed out of the anus, which can cause a feeling of heaviness and distension in the anus and a feeling of incomplete defecation.

2. Inflammation, edema or incarceration of internal hemorrhoids: Due to dry stool or other reasons, the surface mucosa of the internal hemorrhoids may become eroded, edematous, and bleeding, and a large amount of blood clots may form under the mucosa. In severe cases, the hemorrhoids may protrude from the anus. Due to spasm of the anal sphincter, venous reflux is obstructed, further aggravating the edema and causing the hemorrhoids to become incarcerated.

3. Proctitis: If chronic colitis affects the rectum, there may be a feeling of anal prolapse and increased frequency of bowel movements. The disease usually lasts for a long time, with repeated attacks and varying degrees of severity.

4 Anal sinusitis: Anal sinusitis is the most common cause of anal swelling, pain and heaviness. In addition, inflammation of the anal sinuses and anal valves is also called anal cryptitis, which can further develop into perianal abscesses.

5 Rectal cancer: It is more hidden and difficult to detect early before symptoms of bloody stools appear. However, there may be anal prolapse, increased bowel movement frequency, and a feeling of incomplete bowel movements. You should be vigilant, get checked and treated promptly.
