Rheumatic mitral stenosis is a chronic heart disease, and the incidence rate is already very high. To treat this disease, we must first prevent and treat rheumatism in order to reduce damage to the heart. Usual treatment requires appropriate activities to prevent the occurrence of colds. 1. Clinical manifestations Most patients with mitral stenosis are around 30 years old when they seek medical treatment. As mitral valve disease gradually worsens, left ventricular function is also damaged. Heart function often drops to level 3-4 10 to 15 years after onset. Although medical treatment can relieve the symptoms of heart failure, it cannot eliminate the obstructive lesions of the mitral valve and pulmonary vascular disease. Most patients who have not received surgical treatment die at around 50 years old from pulmonary hypertension, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, systemic circulation embolism or infective endocarditis. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : 2. Treatment methods (A) Appropriate activities Patients who have undergone mitral valve surgery should rest for 3 to 6 months, and then increase their activities and labor appropriately depending on the specific circumstances of their recovery. The increase in heart rate after activity or labor should be controlled to no more than 15% of normal. The average daily heart rate at rest If the heart rate is 72 beats per minute, the activity level should not cause the heart rate to exceed 83 beats per minute (72+10.8=82.8). Excessive labor can weaken physical strength, giving streptococci the opportunity to become active, causing pharyngitis, colds, and worsening of the condition. (II) Preventing colds During the flu season, you should always wear a mask. Try to avoid contact with people who have colds. At the same time, you should keep warm, avoid catching cold, and prevent the recurrence of colds or rheumatic fever activities. 3. Drug prevention For patients suspected of active rheumatic fever, use 1.2 million units of long-acting penicillin G (benzathine penicillin G) intramuscularly once a month. 3. Diet and health care Pumpkin cooked with red dates and brown sugar [Formula] 500g fresh pumpkin, 20g red dates, and appropriate amount of brown sugar. [Preparation] Peel the pumpkin, cut into small cubes, add red dates and brown sugar, and cook with water. [Usage] Eat with meals, preferably on an empty stomach. [Applicable] Patients with postoperative Qi and blood deficiency and weak constitution. |
