What are the methods of scraping in traditional Chinese medicine?

Traditional Chinese medicine scraping is a very good way to maintain health, especially when the body has too many toxins, or when you often have a fever and your body is in a sub-healthy state, the method of traditional Chinese medicine scraping is a better way to regulate health.

1. Face scraping method

Use a hand-held scraper, and use one-third of the scraper's edge to contact the skin when scraping. The scraper should be tilted 30 to 60 degrees in the scraping direction, with 45 degrees being the most widely used. Use wrist strength to scrape in the same direction multiple times, with a certain scraping length. This technique is suitable for meridians and acupoints on the flatter parts of the body.

2. Angle scraping method

Use the corner of the scraper to scrape the acupuncture points from top to bottom, with the scraper surface tilted at 45 degrees to the skin being scraped. This scraping method is mostly used on the Jianzhen point on the shoulder, Zhongfu point and Yunmen point on the chest.

3. Tap method

Hold the scraper at an angle of 90 degrees to the acupoint, gradually increase the force from light to heavy, and lift it up suddenly after a moment to allow the muscle to recover. Repeat several times with continuous techniques. This technique is suitable for soft tissues without bones and sunken areas of bones, such as the philtrum and knee points.

4. Patting method

Use the flat end of the scraper to tap the acupuncture points on the body surface. Patting is mostly performed on the limbs, especially the temples and knees. Be sure to apply scraping lubricant to the patting area first. Patting can treat limb pain, numbness, and heart and lung diseases.

5. Kneading method

Use the scraper to press on the acupuncture point at a 20-degree angle, making gentle rotating movements. The flat surface of the scraper should never leave the skin it contacts. Press at a slow speed, and the force should penetrate deep into the subcutaneous tissue or muscle. It is often used to treat acupoints that have a strengthening effect on the internal organs, such as Hegu, Zusanli, Neiguan, as well as pain points in the holographic acupoint area of the back of the neck, back and waist.

6. Scrape

Place the corner of the scraper at a 90-degree angle to the acupuncture point, keep the scraper on the skin at all times, and apply a certain amount of pressure to rub back and forth or left and right over a short distance (about 1 inch long). This technique is applicable to the holographic acupoints of the head.
