Can I have sex if I have kidney stones?

A common disease of the urinary system is kidney stones. Kidney stones are closely related to our living habits. Therefore, to prevent kidney stones, we need to have healthy living habits, a reasonable diet and more physical exercise. Patients with kidney stones will be affected in many aspects of their lives, so our question is, can patients with kidney stones have sex?

Patients with kidney stones have many taboos in life, especially in terms of diet, but kidney stones have nothing to do with sexual life, so patients can rest assured.

Kidney stones are a common urinary system disease. It is more common in men than in women and mostly occurs in young and middle-aged people. There is no significant difference in the incidence between the left and right sides. 40% to 75% of patients with kidney stones experience varying degrees of low back pain. The stones are large and have little mobility, which can cause soreness and discomfort in the lower back, or dull or aching pain when physical activity increases. Colic caused by smaller stones often occurs suddenly and is characterized by severe, paroxysmal pain in the waist and abdomen, like a knife cutting.

The causes of kidney stones are related to primary disease, other diseases and eating habits. There are 32 known components of urinary stones, the most common of which is calcium oxalate. Stones of other components such as magnesium ammonium phosphate, uric acid, calcium phosphate and cystine (an amino acid) can also be a mixture of the above components.

Most people with kidney stones have no symptoms unless the stone falls from the kidney into the ureter and blocks the flow of urine through the ureter. Common symptoms include low back pain, night sweats, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, irritability, abdominal pain, hematuria, etc. If combined with urinary tract infection, chills, fever, etc. may also occur. Acute renal colic often causes unbearable pain to patients.

Sometimes the patient has no pain at all, only hematuria, or the amount of blood is so small that it cannot be seen with the naked eye. Most health check-ups include a urine test, and a microscope is used to examine the sediment after centrifugation of the urine. If an excessive number of red blood cells is seen, it means hematuria, which is sometimes an early sign of kidney stones.

Kidney stones have nothing to do with sexual life. It is a common disease that is related to diet, drinking water and lifestyle habits. You can have a normal sex life.

Above we introduced what kidney stones are. We know that there are many causes of kidney stones. As long as we have a reasonable diet and participate in more physical exercise, we will not suffer from kidney stones. Although kidney stones have a great impact on our lives, kidney stones will not affect our sex life.
