Can people with uterine fibroids eat soybeans?

Uterine fibroids are a common gynecological disease, which can be divided into two types: benign and malignant. However, in general, they are benign and will not affect the physical and mental health of the patient. Uterine fibroids are caused by abnormal estrogen in the body. You should eat less foods with high estrogen content, such as soybeans, otherwise it will aggravate the condition.

1. Can patients with uterine fibroids eat soybeans?

Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumors in women. Among women of childbearing age between 30 and 50 years old, approximately 1 in 5 suffers from uterine fibroids, with an incidence rate as high as 20% to 30%. Dietary science is a line of defense against the growth of uterine fibroids.

Many people know that soybeans are high in protein, which can not only effectively prevent cardiovascular diseases, but also supplement calcium and prevent osteoporosis. However, not everyone is suitable for eating soy products. Women with uterine fibroids should eat less or eat soy products with caution, especially soybeans and soy products (such as tofu, soy milk, soy paste, soy milk, etc.), because soy foods contain a kind of soy isoflavones that can regulate estrogen levels.

The structure of soy isoflavones is very similar to that of estrogen, and is called "phytoestrogen", which can produce effects similar to estrogen. Long-term or excessive consumption of beans will create a high-estrogen environment, which can promote the growth of uterine fibroids in people with them.

2. What are uterine fibroids?

Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumors in the female reproductive organs. Although its incidence rate is highest in women aged 40-50, it does not mean that unmarried and childless women under 40 years old will not suffer from uterine fibroids. Clinically, it is not uncommon to see patients with uterine fibroids in their 20s and 30s.

First of all, we need to determine the nature of the patient's surgery, whether it is a myomectomy or a total hysterectomy. Generally, patients with uterine fibroids have their uterus and uterine ligaments completely removed after menopause. If it is the former, the myomectomy, then it is no different from a cesarean section, with a small wound, less bleeding, and relatively easy recovery. If it is the latter, then it is a myomectomy plus organ removal, and the relative wound and bleeding volume are larger than the former. The general recovery period is between 1-2 months, and the recuperation method is similar to confinement. Many patients are already mothers and should be clear about this. As long as they don't get cold or tired, just rest quietly.

In addition, the surgical incision for uterine fibroids is very special. Please note that it is three inches below the navel, and the incision is horizontal, not vertical, so recovery is easier than other surgeries. The one or two days after the operation, especially the night of the operation, are quite difficult, so family members just need to pay more attention to you. In addition, depending on personal circumstances, if the uterus is retained and the patient has not yet reached menopause, she must continue to take medication for half a year to control the arrival of menstruation. Postoperative patients generally feel weak or have back pain, but as long as they rest quietly, there will be no big problem.
