Does well-differentiated liposarcoma have a high recurrence rate?

Well-differentiated liposarcoma may actually have a recurrence rate, and the types of lipomas are different, so the treatment must be targeted. According to the different types, the most effective treatment method should be selected to reduce the recurrence rate.

1. Fat cancer is a type of soft tissue malignant tumor that originates from mesenchymal tissue: fat. The correct name should be liposarcoma. Both cancer and sarcoma are malignant tumors, the former originating from solid organs and the latter from interstitial tissue. Soft tissue tumors are very rare, accounting for 1% of all cancers. Liposarcomas account for 20% of soft tissue tumors.

There are different types of liposarcoma:

1. Atypical liposarcoma, or grade 1 or well-differentiated liposarcoma (tumor with high degree of differentiation and low malignancy) is common in the abdominal cavity. The tumor is relatively large, grows slowly, and is less likely to metastasize.

2. Pleomorphic liposarcoma or tumor in which the normal morphology of fat cells disappears or is of high grade. It is prone to occur in the abdominal cavity and limbs, grows rapidly, has strong invasiveness, is easy to spread, and is easy to metastasize to the lungs.

3. Myxoid liposarcoma, which is more likely to occur in the abdominal cavity, has behavioral characteristics between the first two. It is more likely to invade other adipose tissues in the abdominal cavity rather than spread to the lungs. The tumor cells have satellite foci.

Liposarcoma is not painful at first and is rarely accompanied by other symptoms. Therefore, it is discovered relatively late.
