What causes blisters when cupping?

Cupping is part of traditional Chinese medicine and has a long history. It has the function of treating diseases and regulating the body. However, if the method is not used properly during cupping, it can easily lead to blisters on the cupping site. There are many reasons for this, such as the cupping site is not suitable for such an operation, the skin is relatively delicate, or the temperature of the cupping cup is too high, resulting in burns, etc.

1. Differentiate your body constitution.

Cupping should be used for tonifying or draining according to your physical condition, otherwise it will have the opposite effect. Pay attention to your physical condition. Cupping is not suitable for people with heart disease, severe anemia, leukemia, thrombocytopenia and other blood diseases, skin allergies, edema, edema, high blood pressure, blood diseases and bleeding tendency, skin diseases, pregnant women, menstruation, too full, too thirsty, too hungry, or drunk.

2. Some parts should not be pulled out.

The navel, precordial area, delicate skin, damaged areas, varicose veins, scars, nipples, and protruding bones should not be plucking. It is best not to cupping until the old marks from cupping have faded.

3. Do not take a bath immediately after cupping.

After cupping, the skin is in a "damaged" state, sensitive and fragile. Taking a bath at this time can easily cause skin damage, inflammation, etc. It is recommended to wait for two or three hours.

4. Keep warm when cupping

Avoid direct wind to prevent catching cold. Cupping is performed according to the condition of the disease, and the acupoints are generally selected in rotation, and not too many at one time. If local bruises have not subsided, cupping should not be repeated at the same location.

5. Determine the retention time according to age, physical condition and condition

The general cupping time is 10 to 15 minutes. The large cup has a strong suction force, so the time can be shortened appropriately, otherwise blisters may occur. Generally, if the condition is mild or there is sensory impairment (such as numbness of the lower limbs), the cupping time should be short. For patients with severe illness, long course of illness, deep lesions and severe pain, the cupping time can be slightly longer and the adsorption force can be slightly greater.
