Scar after needle

Scar after needle

In life, we always need stitches due to some accidental injuries. Stitches can promote wound healing very well, but after gradual healing, scars will often be left at the stitches. If it is in a hidden place, it is not a big deal. The key is that some obvious parts will leave a "centipede" shaped scar, which looks very ugly. The method of dealing with scars after stitches has also become a concern for many people.

Surgical suture scars are scars formed when the skin dermis is deeply damaged and the wound cannot heal automatically, but is only formed by sutures. The most common ones are caesarean section scars and surgical scars. Usually suture scars are prominent hypertrophic scars, dark red in color, hard in texture, irregular in shape, and sometimes accompanied by burning pain and itching. The symptoms will be aggravated, especially when the ambient temperature increases, when the emotions are excited, or after eating spicy and irritating foods. Due to individual differences, it usually takes 3-6 months for surgical suture scars to stabilize, or even several years. Surgical treatment can be performed after the scar tissue gradually stabilizes. Although the causes of surgical scars are the same, the extent of surgical scars for each person is different due to factors such as different surgical sites, surgical trauma, each person's physical constitution, and repair ability.

Surgical sutures usually leave suture scars. Once scars are formed, it is difficult to completely eliminate them, and we can only prevent and treat them as early as possible. The following points should be noted in preventing and treating stitch scars: ① After the wound has scabbed, the scab cannot be forcibly removed, but it should be waited for to fall off naturally, in order to avoid the wound losing the protection of the hard scab and forming scars and causing pigmentation. At the same time, after the scabs on the wound fall off, you should also pay attention to sun protection to prevent the new skin from being exposed to the sun and causing pigmentation. In addition, patients should also pay attention to avoid consuming irritating or dark-pigmented foods such as chili peppers, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and wine in their daily diet to avoid scar hyperplasia and pigmentation. In order to promote wound healing, patients can eat more fruits and vegetables. If the wound is large, they should supplement vitamin C appropriately. ② Patients should also use cosmetics with caution during the recovery period, because some cosmetics contain a large amount of chemical substances, which are very likely to irritate the wound and affect its normal healing. If the scar formed after the wound heals does affect the appearance, it can be removed through surgery. However, when performing the operation, you must choose a regular hospital and an experienced doctor to avoid lifelong regrets caused by improper surgery.

③After the wound forms a scab, wait patiently for it to fall off on its own. People often dislike the unsightly black scabs, or out of curiosity, they can't help but forcibly peel off the scabs too early. At this time, the epidermal cells that are still being repaired have not yet fully grown, and without the protection of the hard scab, it is easy to form scars and pigmentation. Sometimes the newly grown epidermal cells may be accidentally removed, which may stimulate local inflammatory response and hinder wound healing. In addition, an itchy feeling will occur when the wound is healing. Using scratching, hot water washing, friction with clothes and other methods to relieve the itching will stimulate the dilation of local capillaries and the proliferation of granulation tissue to form scars. In terms of diet, irritating foods such as alcohol, peppers, mutton, raw garlic, ginger, mustard, coffee, etc. will also promote the growth of scars. If you take medicines containing lead or mercury, it will promote pigmentation; sun protection should not be ignored. Especially in midsummer, the sun is hot and abundant, and the new skin is tender and can hardly resist the radiation of ultraviolet rays in the sun, so it is easy to form pigmentation; cosmetics, soap, etc. should not come into contact with wounds. Because various cosmetics inevitably contain heavy metals such as lead, mercury, silver, and photosensitive substances, they will stimulate the increase of skin pigmentation. After a person’s skin is injured, early prevention and treatment of traumatic scars will be more effective. If you accidentally leave surgical suture scars, don’t worry, you can go to a professional scar repair hospital for treatment.
