Do steroids have side effects and what is their main value?

Steroids are also called adrenaline in the medical field. They are mainly used to supplement adrenaline for the human body. However, some normal people secrete adrenaline every day, and it is supplemented to the human body in a certain amount to control blood sugar, protein and fat. Once kidney disease or renal dysfunction leads to insufficient secretion of adrenaline and irregular secretion, it is necessary to supplement it with steroids to stimulate the secretion of adrenaline.

The scientific name of steroids is "adrenocortical hormone".

The adrenal glands of normal people secrete a certain amount of steroids every day to maintain normal physiological functions in the body, such as regulating the metabolism of blood sugar, protein, fat, and electrolytes. It is an important hormone that is indispensable for maintaining life.

Clinically, steroids are very good drugs. They can indeed be widely used to treat many difficult and complicated diseases, that is, special diseases, including: cancer, cerebral edema, chronic lung disease, rheumatism, asthma, premature lung immaturity, skin diseases, shock, sepsis, and meningitis, etc., and it is almost in a situation where there is no disease that cannot be used; and it can indeed alleviate many symptoms and temporarily relieve the symptoms, so it has earned the name of "magic pill", so it is inevitable that some unscrupulous medical personnel abuse it to treat various diseases.

It is well known that Chinese people like to take medicine to nourish their bodies. However, any medicine has its potential side effects and should never be purchased and taken at will. There are many side effects of steroids, including gastric bleeding, susceptibility to infection, diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, growth retardation, moon face (swelling), edema, increased acne, etc.

People need to be alert to medicinal powders, black pills, even incense ashes, holy water, etc. of unknown origin, because such supplements or medicines have been most likely to be found to contain steroids in the past. Since steroids are prescription drugs, patients can only use them after receiving a prescription from a physician, so pharmacies are not allowed to display and sell them at will.

Steroids are not "poison" that must be avoided at all costs, and they certainly should not be used indiscriminately as a "magic pill" that can cure all diseases. Especially in the short term, side effects are not likely to occur. However, if used in large quantities and for a long time, many serious problems may occur.
