What should I do if my baby has white spots on his upper jaw?

Many mothers will find that their babies have such a condition, that is, there are white spots on the upper jaw. There are many reasons for this situation, it is most likely caused by thrush, an oral disease caused by a viral infection. In the face of this situation, people need to pay special attention and take timely measures to deal with it. Here is what to do if your baby has white spots on his chin?

White spots on the baby's upper jaw may be thrush. Thrush is an oral infection caused by Candida albicans, a fungal infection.

The main symptoms are the appearance of small white spots, white flakes or white flakes on the baby's lips, soft palate, tongue and cheek mucosa.

How to treat oral thrush?

Mild thrush can heal on its own, but if the area is larger, medication must be used!

1 Nystatin

Nystatin suspension can be applied with gauze or cotton swab, 100,000 U (50,000 U on each cheek), 4 times a day for 7 to 14 consecutive days. It usually disappears in about 2 weeks.

Note! Even if the baby's symptoms have subsided, you still need to continue taking the medicine for 2 to 3 days!

You can also crush the nystatin tablets and mix them with water to form a thin paste. Apply it to the affected area with a cotton swab, 3 to 4 times a day, for 1 to 2 weeks.

2. Sodium bicarbonate

A weak alkaline environment will inhibit the growth of Candida albicans, so 1%~2% sodium bicarbonate solution can also be applied topically for treatment.

Or you can buy sodium bicarbonate tablets, crush them and mix them with water into a thin paste, then apply it to the affected area with a cotton swab, 4 times a day.

3. Oral fluconazole (second choice)

If the baby persists in treatment with nystatin and sodium bicarbonate, and the bottles, nipples, and even the mother's nipples are strictly disinfected every day, and it is still ineffective, oral fluconazole can be used for treatment.

Usage : 6 mg/kg on the first day, then 3 mg/kg, once a day for 14 consecutive days.

Tips from Duma

During the treatment, be sure to strictly boil and sterilize the bottles, nipples and other feeding utensils after each use!

Pay attention to cleaning the mother's nipples. You can use sodium bicarbonate or nystatin to smear the mother's nipples for disinfection!
