Are oily ears hereditary?

I believe everyone knows about oily ears and some people even suffer from this condition. There are many reasons for oily ears. It may be caused by viral infection due to not paying enough attention to the hygiene of the ear area, or it may be caused by injury to the ear canal. Many people have big doubts about whether oily ears are hereditary. So let's take a closer look at whether oily ears are hereditary.

1. Oily ears are somewhat hereditary. But the chance of inheritance is not 100%.

The cerumen glands in the skin of the external auditory canal secrete a yellowish, sometimes sticky substance, commonly known as earwax, which is called cerumen in medicine.

Earwax dries easily when exposed to the air and forms small pieces. Most of them fall out when the jaw joint moves while chewing and opening the mouth. Some people have sticky earwax, commonly known as oily ears or sugar ears (such people often have body odor), which is often mistaken for pus discharge. In fact, this is not pus discharge caused by inflammation.

2. Oily ears are hereditary. Oily ears are somewhat hereditary. But the chance of inheritance is not 100%. To treat oily ears, you can use a cotton swab dipped in hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, or boric acid alcohol (choose one of them) to gently wipe the secretions from the external auditory canal. During the rolling and rubbing process, do not insert the cotton swab too deep into the ear canal to avoid scratching the skin of the external auditory canal and the eardrum. Pay attention to rest, eat a light diet and avoid greasy food.

3. Oily ears are more common in the southern part of the country, and their self-cleaning ability is poorer because their secretions are very sticky, just like honey. Oily ears are not a disease and do not require treatment. It is hereditary and is usually passed from father to daughter and mother to son. Oily ears - greasy cerumen, are congenital and mostly familial. There is no good way to treat it because it is caused by cerumen glands distributed in the walls of the external auditory canal and it is impossible to remove it. If you think greasy earwax is dirty, clean it frequently! Just pay more attention to cleaning it in your daily life, and it is better to use a cotton swab! It is best to go to the hospital to remove it. Use sodium bicarbonate solution and keep cleaning the external ear canal regularly!

4. Is oily ears a hereditary disease in children? Oily ears in children are related to genetics. Oily ears are more common in the southern part of the country and their self-cleaning ability is poorer because their secretions are very sticky, just like honey. Oily ears are not a disease and do not require treatment. It is hereditary and is usually passed from father to daughter and mother to son. Oily ears - greasy cerumen, are congenital and mostly familial.
