How to treat tooth desensitization

How to treat tooth desensitization

Tooth allergy is caused by adverse external stimulation of the teeth, such as pain caused by being exposed to hot, cold, sour, sweet, or biting hard objects. Desensitization treatment should be carried out for tooth allergy, especially for patients with cavities, because it is easy to cause nerve sensitivity and this symptom often occurs. Fluoride and sodium fluoride glycerin can be used for rubbing treatment. In addition, laser treatment and restorative treatment are relatively common methods.

Desensitization treatment methods

Drug method

1. Fluoride: Apply 0.76% sodium monofluorophosphate gel or 75% sodium fluoride glycerol topically for 1 to 2 minutes; 2% sodium fluoride ion introduction (a direct current electrotherapy device or an electrolytic toothbrush can be used to introduce drug ions).

2. Strontium chloride: Add 10% strontium chloride to toothpaste or apply topically with 75% strontium chloride glycerin and 25% strontium chloride liquid.

3. Ammoniacal silver nitrate: keep it away from moisture, blow dry, apply, and use clove oil to restore it to black (be careful not to burn the soft tissue of the mouth).

4. Silver iodide: Apply 3% iodine tincture for half a minute, and apply 10%-30% silver nitrate for half a minute to produce grayish white silver iodide.

5. Laser: YAG laser, power 15W, irradiate the sensitive area for 0.5 seconds each time, 10 to 20 times as a course of treatment.

6. Other drugs: 4% magnesium sulfate solution, 5% potassium nitrate solution, 30% potassium oxalate solution.

7. Restorative treatment: Pulp devitalization treatment if necessary.

8. Daily care: Keep brushing your teeth with professional anti-sensitivity toothpaste, such as Sensodyne anti-sensitivity toothpaste, and you will be basically cured in two weeks.

Desensitization diet

Many people's teeth feel sour when they eat something irritating. What's going on? Experts say that sour teeth are a symptom of dentin hypersensitivity. The cause may be a lack of enamel that causes dentin exposure, or poor calcification of enamel. It may also be due to chewing food on one side for a long time, resulting in severe wear of the teeth on one side. To prevent and treat dentin hypersensitivity, in addition to common oral cleaning methods such as brushing your teeth frequently, there are also a few tips you can use.

1. Chew walnut kernels

For example, patients can chew some raw walnut kernels, or repeatedly rub the cross-section of fresh garlic on the allergic areas of the teeth where pain occurs. Allicin has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, and is effective in treating dentin hypersensitivity. Raw walnut kernels contain a large amount of tannic acid, which can coagulate the protein in the dentinal tubules and also have a desensitizing effect.

2. Chew tea leaves

There is also a simple and convenient method, which is to use tea leaves that are available everywhere around us. Don’t throw away overnight tea casually. You can “recycle” it by putting it in your mouth, especially chewing it around sensitive teeth. You can also put fresh tea leaves directly into the sensitive parts of your teeth and chew gently. Studies have shown that tea is rich in fluoride and tea polyphenols. Tea polyphenols have the effect of disinfection and sterilization. It can not only inhibit the growth of caries bacteria, but also enhance the acid resistance of tooth enamel. Moreover, in the presence of fluoride, the acid resistance will be unexpectedly enhanced. In addition, the fluoride ions in tea have a good health-care effect on teeth. They have a strong affinity with the calcium in teeth, which is like adding a protective layer to the teeth.
