What are the symptoms of ureterocele? Do you urinate normally?

Ureteral cyst is a disease that is more common in men. Its main symptoms are urinary tract infection, frequent urination, painful urination, and difficulty urinating. If the patient's condition is more serious, urinary tract obstruction may also occur.

A ureterocele is a cystic dilation of the end of the ureter. During embryonic development, the diaphragm between the ureter and the urogenital sinus is not absorbed and disappears, resulting in varying degrees of stenosis of the ureteral orifice. It may also be caused by factors such as weak fibrous structure at the end of the ureter or excessive length and curvature of the intramural segment, which, after impact by urine flow, forms a cystic expansion that protrudes into the bladder. In early cases, there may be no clinical symptoms and the disease is often only discovered when diagnosing severe renal malformation.

(I) Urinary tract infection: symptoms such as pyuria, fever, frequent urination, hematuria, dysuria, and dysuria.

(ii) Urinary tract obstruction: repeated urinary obstruction may cause severe symptoms of chronic uremia such as vomiting, constipation, anemia, headache, and weight loss.

2. Physical examination: When the urethra prolapses from the external orifice, a ball-like object can be seen with small congested blood vessels on the surface. The ureteral opening is sometimes visible.

3. Cystoscopy: Rhythmic contraction or filling of the cyst can be seen.

4. Excretory urography: Check the renal function on both sides, whether there is hydronephrosis and whether the ureter on the affected side is excessively tortuous and dilated. There is a spherical filling defect in the bladder.

The choice of treatment depends on the extent of the lesion, its effect on the upper urinary tract, and whether there are other urinary tract malformations. The goals of treatment are to relieve obstruction, eradicate infection, and protect renal function. Commonly used surgical methods include transurethral resection and anti-reflux ureteral bladder reimplantation.
