Is shoulder pain related to frozen shoulder?

Is shoulder pain related to frozen shoulder?

Shoulder pain is related to frozen shoulder to a certain extent, but shoulder pain is not necessarily frozen shoulder. Sometimes shoulder pain may be caused by shoulder tuberculosis, shoulder tumors, and rheumatism. Therefore, once shoulder pain occurs, do not treat it as frozen shoulder.

cholecystitis. There is overlapping sensory nerves between the gallbladder and the right shoulder, so gallbladder inflammation can cause dull pain in the right shoulder and under the right shoulder blade. If in addition to shoulder pain, you also have recurring indigestion symptoms such as heartburn, belching, acid reflux, bloating, nausea, etc., don't forget to go to the hospital to check your gallbladder. Color Doppler ultrasound examination can confirm the diagnosis, and shoulder pain can be relieved through anti-infection, antispasmodic and analgesic treatment.

Angina pectoris, myocardial infarction. When myocardial ischemia occurs, the pain is not only in the precordial area, but also radiates to the left shoulder and other parts. Angina pectoris is often triggered by fatigue or excitement, and the pain can be relieved after rest. Myocardial infarction often occurs during sleep or in a quiet state, and is often accompanied by serious symptoms such as pale complexion, profuse sweating, difficulty breathing, and heart failure. People with a history of coronary heart disease should be especially careful.

Cervical spondylosis. Neck and back pain and limited neck movement caused by cervical spondylosis are often due to compression and stimulation of the nerve roots. There is usually an electric shock-like sensation, accompanied by numbness of the fingers, cold limbs and abnormal skin sensation in the area innervated by the compressed nerves, but no shoulder joint movement disorder.

Tuberculosis of the shoulder joint. Both shoulder tuberculosis and frozen shoulder cause shoulder pain and limited function, but shoulder tuberculosis has a slow onset and often presents with systemic symptoms such as low-grade fever in the afternoon, night sweats, general fatigue, pale complexion, and pink cheekbones. X-rays can aid in diagnosis.

Shoulder tumor. When tumors around the shoulder grow to a certain stage, they will cause shoulder pain or dysfunction of shoulder and arm movements. The difference from frozen shoulder is that the shoulder pain in the affected area gradually worsens, and the painful area expands due to the growth of the tumor and local swelling. X-rays can help to confirm the diagnosis.

Biceps tendinitis and tenosynovitis. Unlike frozen shoulder, although both have pain in the anterior shoulder, patients often have a history of minor trauma or overwork such as shoulder traction or twisting. Some patients develop the disease due to wind and cold. The pain may radiate to the upper arms and neck.
