What ointment to use for genital herpes

Genital herpes is a relatively common disease. If you get genital herpes, you must seek timely treatment. During the treatment process, you must first understand the type of genital herpes, the symptoms of the disease, the patient's medical history, etc. Different drugs should be used to treat different types of genital herpes. Only in this way can better therapeutic effects be achieved, especially to prevent the recurrence of genital herpes.

1. Primary genital herpes:

Oral acyclovir 200 mg, 5 times a day, or 400 mg/time, 3 times a day; or valacyclovir 1 g/time, 2 times a day; or famciclovir 250 mg/time, 3 times a day, the treatment course is 10 days.

2. Recurrent genital herpes:

Oral acyclovir 200 mg, 5 times a day, or 400 mg/time, 3 times a day, for 5 days; or valacyclovir 500 mg/time, 2 times a day, for 3-5 days; or famciclovir 1 g/time, 2 times a day, for 1 day, or 125 mg/time, 2 times a day, for 5 days.

3. Frequent recurrence of genital herpes:

For patients with more than 6 attacks per year, acyclovir 400 mg can be taken orally twice a day; or valacyclovir 500 mg once a day; if the recurrence is ≥ 10 times per year, 1 g can be taken once a day; or famciclovir 250 mg/time, twice a day. The course of treatment is 4 months to 1 year. However, some patients may still relapse after stopping medication.

4. Recurrent genital herpes with HIV infection:

Acyclovir 200 mg, 5 times a day, or 400 mg/time, 3 times a day; valacyclovir 1 g/time, 2 times a day; famciclovir 500 mg/time, 2 times a day, until all skin and mucosal lesions are healed. For chronic HIV infection patients, oral acyclovir 400-800 mg, 2-3 times a day; or valacyclovir 500 mg, 2 times a day; or famciclovir 500 mg/time, 2 times a day.

prevention

Try to eliminate or avoid triggering factors such as cold, sun exposure, emotional excitement, etc. During the asymptomatic detoxification period, 70-80% of the herpes simplex virus can be transmitted to others unknowingly. Abstinence is currently the only reliable and effective way to prevent genital herpes. Condoms protect against transmission of herpes simplex virus only if they cover all lesions, and they protect susceptible women better than susceptible men.

Experts analyzed and concluded that for patients who frequently suffer from genital herpes, suppressive therapy should be used more often, which can effectively suppress the disease and reduce the spread of genital herpes. I wish you all good health and stay away from genital herpes.
