How toxic are wasps?

The scientific name of hornet is Vespa, a very poisonous wild bee. Its venom contains phospholipase. After being stung, it often causes pain, itching and congestion at the wound site. More serious cases may even cause papules in the patient, and even cause nausea, headache, coma and other symptoms. For people with allergic constitution, it can easily lead to coma, difficulty breathing, low blood pressure, and even respiratory failure.

How toxic are wasps?

After being stung by a hornet, you may generally experience discomfort and poisoning symptoms such as pain, itching, congestion and swelling.

You should go to the hospital for timely examination and treat the wound according to the specific symptoms. If necessary, you can get anti-toxic and anti-inflammatory injections.

After being stung by a bee, in mild cases, the injured area will have erythema, papules or urticaria with ecchymosis in the center, and there will be a burning sensation and stinging pain. If there are no symptoms 20 minutes after the sting, you can rest assured.

In severe cases, the injured area will be red, swollen, and blisters will form, with local severe pain or itching, fever, headache, nausea and vomiting, irritability, convulsions, and coma.

People with specific constitutions are allergic to bee venom and can rapidly develop symptoms of anaphylactic shock such as swelling of the face and eyelids, urticaria, laryngeal edema, abdominal pain and diarrhea, difficulty breathing, low blood pressure, and confusion, and ultimately die from respiratory or circulatory failure.

The principles of treatment are as follows:

1. Wasp venom is weakly alkaline and can be scrubbed with vinegar, 1% acetic acid or Wuji ointment.

2. The stinger remaining in the wound can be picked out with a needle or tweezers, but do not squeeze it to prevent the remaining toxin from entering the body. Then use cupping to suck out the venom and reduce the absorption of toxins.

3. Apply ice to the sting to relieve pain and swelling. If the pain is severe, you can take some painkillers.

4. If there is a tendency to spread, there may be an allergic reaction. You can take some anti-allergic drugs, such as diphenhydramine, promethazine and other anti-allergic drugs.

5. Observe closely for about half an hour. If you find any breathing difficulties, rough breathing, or wheezing sounds, even a little bit, immediately go to the nearest hospital for emergency treatment.

Supplement: If you accidentally make a hornet "angry", you can lie down and don't move. Never run wildly to avoid being chased by a swarm of hornets. After being stung by a wasp, the wound will immediately become red and swollen, and feel a burning pain. At this time, you should immediately apply some alkaline water to neutralize the acid and alkali, reduce the toxicity, and also have a pain-relieving effect. If there are onions, wash them, slice them and apply them to the wound. You can also use breast milk, wind oil, cooling oil, etc. to remove the bee venom, but remember not to use mercurochrome or iodine, as it will not only fail to treat the wound, but will aggravate the swelling! If you are attacked by a swarm of bees, you should seek medical attention immediately and do not take it lightly.

Note: We would like to remind everyone to pay special attention to any injury and not to block the wound with soil, rags, dirty handkerchiefs, etc. to avoid tetanus and cause human death.
