What causes styes? Be careful of these factors

Stye is what we commonly call a stye. Never underestimate these problems, because they cause great impact and trouble to patients. Many times it is caused by staphylococcal infection, so patients are advised to pay attention to health and hygiene to prevent infection.

1. External stye:

It is an inflammation of the eyelash follicles or the sebaceous glands nearby. It is slightly itchy at first, and the eyelids are locally swollen and congested, with a feeling of swelling and tenderness. Nodules can be felt near the eyelid margin. Later, the nodules gradually soften and yellow pustules form at the roots of the eyelashes. If the pus breaks through the skin and overflows, the redness and swelling will quickly subside, and the pain will also be relieved.

2. Internal stye:

The symptoms are similar to those of an external stye, except that the pain is more severe and the disease develops more slowly than an external stye. Before the abscess breaks through, a yellow pus head is often faintly visible on the surface of the eyelid conjunctiva, which may break through on its own. If the marginal plate fails to break through and the bacterial toxins are strong, the inflammation can spread and form an eyelid abscess.

3. Precautions for self-treatment

(1) Pay attention to eye hygiene and avoid bad habits such as wiping eyes with dirty hands or dirty handkerchiefs.

(2) Get enough rest, avoid staying up late, and avoid overstraining your eyes.

(3) Avoid spicy foods such as garlic, pepper, and chili peppers.

(4) Avoid eating too much greasy and heavy dishes, eat more vegetables, and eat less sugar.

(5) During the acute phase, patients should avoid being exposed to smoke or heat.

(6) Maintain smooth bowel movements.
