White spots on the scalp

White spots on the scalp

Some people will suddenly find white spots on their scalp, and no matter what method they use, they cannot relieve the symptoms. This will make people feel particularly distressed, so it is best to go to the hospital for examination when you first discover the symptoms. This will increase the chance of a confirmed diagnosis. In fact, many patients cannot find the specific cause of the disease, which may lead to misdiagnosis. Some treatments can be used to make the white spots smaller.

After a period of treatment, progressive leukoplakia may experience the following:

(1) If the treatment is appropriate and the disease is under control, there are several possibilities:

After treatment, the white spots were completely cured; the white spots shrank but did not completely disappear; the white spots stopped developing but did not shrink either.

The former situation is undoubtedly the best outcome. The latter two situations are generally considered to be relatively stable and can be treated according to the stable period.

(2) The disease cannot be effectively controlled and continues to progress. This means that the treatment is not effective and the cause should be analyzed and other treatment methods should be changed.

White spots caused by various reasons have different characteristics. First of all, according to the color of white spots, they can be divided into hypopigmented spots and pure pigmented spots. The color of hypopigmented spots is lighter than normal skin color, but it will not turn into porcelain white. These white spots are mainly seen in some congenital leukoplakia and simple pityriasis versicolor, tinea versicolor, solar leukoplakia, etc. Depigmented spots refer to white spots that are pure white or porcelain white in color. They are mainly seen in vitiligo and some inflammatory skin diseases that cause severe damage to melanocytes, such as white atrophy and lupus erythematosus. Secondly, the skin texture of different white spots also has its own characteristics. Some white spots have varying degrees of scales attached to the skin, such as pityriasis simplex and tinea versicolor; some white spots have skin atrophy, such as post-ulcer depigmentation and discoid lupus erythematosus; some white spots have dry skin, no sweat, and no hair, such as leprosy white spots; in addition, the edges of different white spots also have their own characteristics. Some white spots have clear borders and may have darker pigmentation around them, such as white atrophy and discoid lupus erythematosus; some white spots have blurred borders and are generally hypopigmented spots.

Many clinical observations have shown that psychoneurological factors are closely related to the occurrence of vitiligo.

The mental, nervous and endocrine systems are a unified whole. Mental factors lead to stress in the body, which increases the levels of neuroendocrine hormones and neurotransmitters. However, mental factors focus on subjective aspects, while neuroendocrine system is a measurable indicator and is more objective. In addition, due to the intrinsic connection between the nervous and immune systems, neural factors may affect melanocytes through the immune system.
