What should you pay attention to when cupping? Have you done all of these?

Many people think that cupping is particularly simple. They just need to light alcohol and place it on the acupuncture points. In fact, it is not true. The fire cannot burn at the mouth of the cup to avoid overheating the cup mouth. When cupping, you should generally choose a plump and elastic part, and pregnant women should use it with caution.

Cupping is not that simple. You should pay attention to the following points when cupping:

1. Disinfection of the tank: Generally, use 75% alcohol cotton balls to wipe the tank mouth and tank body to achieve disinfection. The sterilized jar can be wiped dry with a dry cotton ball or allowed to air dry before use.

2. Ignition method: Generally, the flash fire method is used. Hold the ignition stick in one hand and the cup in the other hand. Light the alcohol cotton ball on the ignition stick (the amount of alcohol should not be too much to prevent alcohol from dripping after ignition), quickly insert it into the cup, take it out after about 1-3 seconds, and use the other hand to gently place the cupping jar on the part that needs cupping. When igniting, do not burn at the mouth of the tank to avoid overheating the tank mouth.

3. When cupping, you should generally choose plump and elastic parts. It should be used with caution on areas with skin allergies, damaged skin, thin muscles, and excessive hair, and should be used with caution by pregnant women.

4. Choose an appropriate body position, generally lying down. Once the cup is in place, do not move the body to prevent the cupping jar from falling off.

5. Choose cans of appropriate size according to different parts. First test the area to be pulled out and make sure the mouth of the cup matches the area before use.

6. When using multiple cups, the distance between the cups should not be too close. Otherwise, the skin will be pulled by the cups, which will cause pain. At the same time, the cups will be entangled with each other and it will be difficult to remove them firmly.

7. When using the cupping cup, do not push or pull on areas where the skin is thin or where the bones are protruding, so as not to damage the skin or cause the cupping cup to leak and fall off.

8. When removing the cup, the technique should be gentle. Hold the cup with your right hand, and press the left thumb or index finger against the muscle at the edge of the cup. Press to allow air to leak in and the suction to disappear. The cup will fall off naturally. Do not pull or twist it hard to avoid damaging the skin.

9. After removing the cup, some redness or cyanosis will appear locally. This is a normal phenomenon and will generally disappear on its own within 1 week. If local bruising is severe, cupping should not be performed again at the same location. If the cupping is left on for too long, blisters may form on the skin. Small ones do not need to be treated and will be absorbed by themselves, but you need to avoid abrasions; after a large puncture, wipe it with a dry cotton ball, or apply some gentian violet to prevent infection.

10. The room needs to be warm and the air fresh. Do not use fans or air conditioners when cupping to avoid catching a cold.
