The incidence of not getting rabies vaccination

The incidence of not getting rabies vaccination

Rabies is a relatively serious disease, which is mainly caused by bites from sick dogs. The incidence rate is very high if rabies vaccine is not given. Once the disease occurs, the mortality rate will also be very high. Therefore, after being bitten by a dog, the first thing to do is to wash the wound repeatedly with running water, and then go to the hospital for rabies vaccine injection in time. Strictly follow the doctor's instructions and carry out corresponding conditioning.

Characteristics of rabies in children:

First of all, the incidence rate is high, with children under the age of 14 accounting for more than 60% of the incidence rate. This is mainly because children have many opportunities for active contact with pets.

Secondly, the disability rate of rabies in children is higher than that in adults. Because children are short, when rabid dogs pounce on them, they are very likely to be bitten on the head, face, neck and upper limbs. Biting the eyes can cause blindness, biting off the nose or ears can cause disfigurement, and there are also cases of biting off fingers, penises, and testicles.

Third, rabies in children is a serious condition because the parts of the body where they are bitten are close to the central nervous system, making wound treatment difficult. The blood circulation is extremely rich, the incubation period is short, and the condition is serious.

Fourth, in cases of rabies in children, immunization is often delayed after exposure. Some children are not bitten but are scratched or licked, and their parents are not informed in time, so they are not treated in time and are not vaccinated against rabies, which leads to the disease.

Specific symptoms of rabies:

Even hearing the concept of "water" can trigger pharyngeal muscle spasms in patients; fear of wind is also a unique symptom of rabies: an experienced doctor can cause pharyngeal muscle spasms in patients by fanning them behind their backs. The paralytic type usually appears in the later stage of the excitatory type, with lethargy and paralysis being the main clinical features. Whether it is furious rabies or silent rabies, the ultimate development is further paralysis and then coma and death. The usual cause of death is respiratory failure. In the absence of intensive care, death often occurs within the first week of illness.

Kind tips:

Since children have contracted rabies, we still need to pay attention to the incubation period of rabies, and pay attention to some characteristics of each period. Only by paying more attention to the relevant knowledge of rabies can we prevent children from getting rabies. After contracting rabies, the disease will not occur immediately. It needs to go through the incubation period, and then ascend to the central nervous system of the human body, and then spread to the target organs. Only then will some clinical symptoms appear. The first is the early symptoms, and then there will be excitement, difficulty swallowing, etc. Once a child is confirmed to be infected with rabies, he or she must be treated actively.
