Although Hegu acupoint is an important acupuncture point in the human body, many people still cannot find it accurately. In fact, the location of Hegu acupoint is very easy to find. Its specific location is on the thumb side of the midpoint of the second metacarpal bone on the back of the human hand. From the perspective of clinical treatment effects, correct massage of the Hegu point can treat adverse symptoms such as fever, headache, swollen and painful teeth, facial paralysis, cough, dysentery, epilepsy, dysmenorrhea and amenorrhea.

1. Where is the Hegu point?

When determining this point, the patient should be asked to turn his wrist sideways and make a half fist naturally. The Hegu point is located on the back of the hand, at the midpoint of the second metacarpal bone, on the thumb side. (Or on the back of the hand, between the first and second metacarpal bones, at the midpoint of the radial side of the second metacarpal bone). Here is a simple way to find it: when the thumb and index finger are spread out at a 45-degree angle, the intersection of the extended angles of the bones is this point.

Simple acupoint location method: Put the thumb and index finger together and locate the acupoint at the highest point of the muscle; or open the thumb and index finger, place the horizontal line of the thumb joint of the other hand on the base of the thumb, and press down with the thumb to locate the acupoint.

3. Clinical Application of Hegu Point

1. Hegu is the original point of the Large Intestine Meridian, belongs to Yang and governs the exterior, it can take the clear and eliminate the weak, vent the heat in the Qi, raise the clear and lower the turbid, dispel wind and disperse the exterior, and promote the circulation of Qi and blood.

2. Hegu is used to treat various symptoms of head and face. If used properly, the needle can cure the disease. A special acupoint for treating diseases related to teeth, eyes, throat (pharynx), etc.

3. For toothache, use the (Feijing Zouqi) method. 1. Insert the needle tip upward at an angle, twist it vigorously so that the needle feels the head. 2. Lift the needle to the subcutaneous tissue, insert the needle tip downward at an angle, so that the needle feels the finger. Repeat this 3 times, leave the needle in for 30 minutes, and the patient will be healed.

4. Toothache: Needle both Hegu points and leave the needles for 3 minutes. The disease will be cured.

5. Toothache, crooked mouth, inability to raise arms and shoulders, inability to flex and extend the thumb and index finger: Acupuncture at the Hegu point is very effective.

6. Toothache caused by wind and fire and inability to eat: 1 Hegu 2 Cheek car 3 Zhongwan 4 Zusanli 5 Leave the needle in for 30 minutes.

8. The method of tonifying and draining Hegu: To tonify, needle the area while exhaling first and inhaling later. For purgation method, needle the needle while inhaling first and then exhaling.

9. Headache: 1 Hegu 2 Fengchi.

10. Epilepsy and calming the nerves and relieving shock: 1. Hegu; 2. Baihui; 3. Shenmen.
