How to treat scarlet fever? Antibacterial therapy can be used

The symptoms of scarlet fever are very similar to those of a cold, but it is much more serious than a cold. For this disease, we can use general treatments, or we can use antibiotics such as penicillin for antibacterial treatment.

1. General treatment : isolate the respiratory tract and rest in bed during the acute phase; provide adequate water and nutrition; keep the skin clean to prevent secondary infection.

2. Antibacterial treatment : Penicillin is the first choice, with sufficient intravenous drip for 7 to 10 days. For critically ill patients, increase the dosage of penicillin and give intravenous injection, or use two antibiotics in combination. If there is penicillin allergy, erythromycin, cephalosporin and other drugs can be used.

3. The room should be well ventilated. If conditions permit, the sick child should be isolated and live alone to avoid infecting others and prevent other infections. During the acute phase, the child should stay in bed for 2 to 3 weeks to prevent myocarditis and nephritis caused by scarlet fever.

4. The diet can be liquid or semi-liquid food that is rich in nutrients and vitamins. Children should drink plenty of water when they have a fever or rash. Pay attention to oral hygiene. You can gargle with light salt water 3 to 4 times a day to clear nasal secretions and apply penicillin ointment on your lips and nose.

5. After the rash subsides, skin desquamation and itching may occur, so keep the skin clean. During the rash period, the child's skin will be itchy. If scratched, secondary infection may occur. Calamine lotion or 75% alcohol can be applied. Avoid wearing flannel or chemical fiber underwear to avoid aggravating the itching. Vaseline or liquid paraffin can be applied during peeling. If there is large area of peeling, it needs to be cut off with scissors. Instruct the child not to peel it off forcibly with hands to avoid skin infection. Be careful not to peel off the dandruff with your hands to avoid infection. You can apply calamine lotion when it itches.

6. Pay attention to changes in the condition. Within 2 to 3 weeks of onset, pay attention to whether the color of urine becomes darker. If the urine becomes soy sauce-colored or meat-washing water-colored, the urine volume decreases, the face and limbs become swollen, and red, swollen and painful joints appear, you should seek medical attention promptly.

7. Within 1 month after recovery, go to the hospital regularly for checkups and tests to detect complications in time.

The above are some very good ways and methods for treating scarlet fever in children. There is nothing special about these methods of treating scarlet fever. The main thing is that children should rest more and drink more water. It's just like our usual simple cold and fever. However, special attention should be paid to preventing complications caused by scarlet fever, because these complications are very dangerous.
