L23L34 Is lumbar disc herniation serious?

Many people find that their backs are different from others when they rub their backs while taking a shower. Normally, the back should be parallel with a concave straight line in the middle, which is the spine. However, some people have bulging lumbar discs, so this straight line is not straight and may even be deformed, leading to deformation of the lumbar spine. What should be done in this situation?

Conservative treatment

The key is to choose a regular, effective and side-effect-free treatment method. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that lumbar disc herniation is caused by wind, cold and dampness. The purpose of treating lumbar disc herniation is to dispel wind and cold, promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis. It follows the principle of painlessness in traditional Chinese medicine and treats lumbar disc herniation fundamentally.

The commonly used methods are as follows:

1. Bed rest: It is a very simple but effective measure that patients with lumbar disc herniation can take. Bed rest is the basis of non-surgical treatment. The purpose of bed rest is to relieve the pressure on the spine and allow the protrusion that compresses the nerve roots to slowly recover. For patients with lumbar disc herniation with more severe symptoms, complete and sufficient bed rest is required, and a hard bed is best.

2. Traction therapy: It is one of the most commonly used treatments for patients with lumbar disc herniation. Traction therapy is a relatively effective decompression measure. It achieves the purpose of decompression and pain relief by physically stretching the spine. Traction therapy has a long history and is effective.

3. Massage therapy: Massage therapy is an integral part of traditional Chinese medicine. It has the advantages of simple method, comfort, effectiveness and few complications. It has been used as one of the comprehensive treatments for lumbar disc herniation.

4. Blockade therapy: Because it is safe, reliable and easy to operate, it is a relatively commonly used injection treatment method. It includes methods such as local blocking of pain points, blocking of intervertebral foraminal nerve roots and acupoint blocking. It can relieve pain for a certain period of time.

5. Sacral canal injection therapy (sacral therapy) In recent years, a large number of clinical studies have confirmed that injecting different drugs into the sacral canal through the sacral foramen can provide targeted treatment for different diseases. It has a significant effect in relieving pain and restoring lumbar function in patients with low back and leg pain caused by lumbar disc herniation. It has been widely used in clinical practice by pain clinics at all levels of hospitals.

6. Sacral canal fluid therapy: It is a treatment method that uses large doses of fluid to drip or inject into the spinal canal, also called "sacral canal fluid shock therapy". It utilizes the anatomical features of the sacral spinal canal to inject a certain amount of fluid and spread its pressure, forcing the herniated intervertebral disc to return to its original position. This method is fast, effective, safe and has few side effects. It is an ideal conservative treatment for lumbar disc herniation. However, because the method is more complicated, it generally requires treatment by a professional anesthesiologist and pain doctor.

7. Waist support belt: For patients with lumbar disc herniation, the main purpose is to brake, which can allow the damaged lumbar intervertebral disc to get sufficient local rest and create good conditions for the patient's body recovery. The efficacy of Chinese and Western medicines is general and can be used as an auxiliary treatment method with the main purpose of relieving symptoms.

8. Other therapies such as physical therapy, acupuncture, manual reduction, traditional Chinese medicine bone setting, medical physical exercise, etc.
