Can mycoplasma infection in children heal itself?

Mycoplasma infection in children is relatively common in life. The most common one is Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection. The onset is often acute, and patients often have fever and severe cough. Mycoplasma infection in children has a certain self-limiting nature and generally improves with good treatment. Of course, parents should also pay attention to it, strengthen care, and use medication in time.

Mycoplasma infection in children can heal itself

Mycoplasma pneumonia, also known as primary atypical pneumonia, is caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae, which is smaller than bacteria and larger than viruses. Although the symptoms of Mycoplasma pneumonia are serious, it is still curable. Treatment with macrolide antibiotics is often effective, such as erythromycin, azithromycin, josamycin, and rolide, while penicillin and cephalosporin are ineffective. The course of treatment is generally 2 weeks, and can be extended to 3 weeks in severe cases. Other symptomatic treatments include cough suppressants, antitussives and traditional Chinese medicine treatment. Extrapulmonary symptoms should be treated appropriately. If the treatment is improper and the mycoplasma infection is not treated according to the regular treatment, recurrent respiratory tract infections are likely to occur after the acute phase and there is a potential possibility of developing asthma.

Treatment of Mycoplasma pneumonia in children

Mycoplasma pneumonia in children develops rapidly, so reasonable and timely treatment is particularly important. 1. In case of high fever, take antipyretics as required by the doctor. If the body temperature is above 38.5℃, take it once every 4 to 6 hours. After taking the antipyretic, the child should drink plenty of water to help sweat and reduce fever. Physical cooling methods can also be used, such as alcohol rub baths, cold water bag on the forehead, etc. For malnourished and weak children, it is not advisable to take antipyretics or alcohol rub baths. Warm water rub baths can be used to cool down, or Chinese medicine for clearing heat, such as Xiaoer Niuhuang San, Zixue San, etc.; 2. Even if the body temperature has not subsided, try to avoid going to the hospital several times a day, otherwise the child will not get rest. The hospital is concentrated with patients and the air is bad, which makes it easy to get infected with other diseases. It is not good for the recovery of the child.

3. During the medication treatment and nursing process at home, if the child is found to be restless, gray in complexion, short of breath and sweating, cyanosis around the mouth, and a significantly accelerated pulse, he should be sent to the hospital immediately to avoid delaying the treatment of damaged heart function. You need to go to the hospital as soon as possible for further examination and treatment; 4. After pneumonia is cured, do not take it lightly, and pay special attention to preventing upper respiratory tract infections, otherwise it is easy to get infected again. Attention must be paid to strengthening exercise. Don't take your children to public places when colds are prevalent. When someone in the family has a cold, try to avoid contact with children.
