What causes hernia in children? Three factors are the most common

When children have symptoms of hernia, it is a very worrying thing for parents, and everyone also needs to pay more attention to the causes of hernia in children. So, what causes hernia in children?

1. Premature babies and cryptorchidism are more likely to develop

Premature infants have a particularly high incidence of hernia (about 30%) because they are subjected to greater abdominal pressure before the processus vaginalis closes or because their fascia are weak. Children with cryptorchidism have a higher incidence of hernia because of abnormal testicular descent and abnormal closure of the processus vaginalis. The incidence of hernia is also high in babies who are born prematurely or have low birth weight, have a family history of the disease, have meconium peritonitis, have cirrhosis with ascites, have hydrocephalus and are receiving ventriculoperitoneal drainage, have urogenital malformations, have cryptorchidism, have hypospadias or epispadias, or have connective tissue diseases such as Van's syndrome.

2. It has a lot to do with the patient's constitution

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that hernia is caused by the incomplete development of children, the weak constitution and insufficient vital energy of the elderly, and the entry of cold, dampness, turbid air and anger, which lead to the obstruction and retention of qi and blood circulation, and the generation of negative pressure in the abdominal cavity, which causes the increase of intra-abdominal air pressure and forces the free organs in the abdominal cavity, such as the small intestine, cecum, greater omentum, bladder, ovaries, fallopian tubes and other organs, to drill into any hole. In other words, the root cause of hernia is poor blood circulation.

3. Acquired Factors

The acquired factors that cause hernia in children mainly refer to the increase in abdominal cavity pressure caused by excessive movements or excessive force such as coughing, constipation, crying, etc., which leads to damage of the abdominal wall membrane and protrusion of organs, thus forming a hernia.
