How to correct the bend in the calf

How to correct the bend in the calf

It is quite common in life to have slightly bent calves, such as X-shaped legs and O-shaped legs. If it is not particularly serious, it can be corrected through certain methods in life. There are many reasons for this phenomenon, mainly congenital genetic reasons, or acquired malnutrition, calcium deficiency, etc., which may lead to such phenomenon. Let us understand how to correct slightly bent calves?

How to correct the bend in the calf

The purpose of corrective exercises is to strengthen leg exercises, strengthen the inner thigh muscles, and exercise the calf triceps regularly.

(1) Sit on a chair, support your back with your hands, clamp an object (can be thick or thin) under your ankles, keep your knees together, then raise your legs straight up to horizontal, then lower them, 15 to 20 times x 3 sets.

(2) Sit on the ground with your knees bent, knees open, feet facing each other, arms bent, hands placed on the inside of the knee joints, and press down on the knee joints as hard as possible. Hold for 2 seconds, then return to the original position.

(3) Sit with your legs straight, support your body with your hands, place a soft object (such as a small ball) between your knees, and tie your ankle joints with a rubber band. Practice for 5 minutes. The calves are required to use force to clamp objects.

(4) Stand with your legs apart, knees spread as far apart as possible, chest and back straight, knees slightly bent, slowly lift your heels, then lower them, repeatedly lifting and lowering your heels until you feel soreness in your calves.

(5) Kick the shuttlecock inward with your calf, alternating between the two legs.

Can go to hospital for treatment

For those with an inner ankle distance of 3-6cm, non-surgical treatment can be used: massage the outer thigh muscles during the day, and at night after the child falls asleep, bring the two ankles and femoral condyles closer and tie them tightly with a bandage or use a splint to gradually correct them; supplement calcium and vitamin D, and get more sun exposure. For patients with an inner and outer ankle distance of 6-9 cm, surgical treatment is available: (1) lateral epiphysis block of the knee joint (2) supracondylar osteotomy of the femur. You can contact an orthopedic surgeon for correction methods (including surgery).
