Do hamsters have rabies?

This is a season with a high incidence of rabies, so everyone is always worried about the possibility of rabies. In fact, rabies not only occurs in dogs, but also in cats and humans. However, it should be noted that rabies does not occur in other animals unless the animal has been bitten by a rabid dog.

Regarding the question of how rabies is transmitted, there are mainly the following:

1. Rabies is an infectious disease caused by the rabies virus;

2. The virus spreads among wild mammals (such as foxes, wolves, hyenas, raccoons, badgers, weasels, bats, and rodents) through scratches and bites. Hyenas can carry the virus for a long time without symptoms.

How is rabies transmitted?

3. Wild mammals transmit the virus to domestic animals such as dogs, cats, pigs, and cattle, and finally to humans.

4. Infection due to bites or scratches on the skin or licking of mucous membranes by dogs or other animals. Rabies virus invades the nerves through wounds and mucous membranes and causes disease. This is the main mode of infection.

5. Infection occurs when hands are accidentally pricked during slaughtering or skinning. According to statistics, among the 86 cases of rabies, 78 were bitten and 8 were infected from hands injured while skinning dogs.

6. Infection through the digestive tract. Animals that died of rabies are buried underground and frozen in the winter. They are then dug out by wild dogs or other animals, which eat their meat and infect them with rabies.

The above is an introduction to the transmission routes of rabies. Do you understand it? It should be noted that if we are bitten by a dog in daily life, we should go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time to avoid infection with rabies. I hope the above content is helpful to you. Finally, I wish you good health! (
